Getting closer and getting concerned the items waiting wont arrive in time

I'm departing Townsville at this stage next Sunday the 10th at around the 9am mark, looking at between 400 to 600 K's each day depending on the stage, so around 5 to 6 hours a day on the bike, no need to push it, just gunna take it steady.

either way, we will be out on the bike, watching the world go by, and travelling to something that is just that bit special to all of us, outside of my wedding this is the highlight of 2013 for me

Reminds me of one the FarRides I did a couple of years ago, what a light show I had that night and it was a great nights riding as well!!!


  Finally got a reasonable day to do the last minute things done to the bike for the trip.

After half an hour on the phone to Dale ( DMME ) it looks like I might have my C.B. working at last. Lots of try this/try that later ( and some choice words! )and  and it looks like the earth bus on my aux fuse block is not very good. I have now earthed everything direct to the frame of the bike and the C.B. is making all the right indications now. Hopefully it might also explain why my Drift Camera was not running off the USB charger correctly, and the Starcom not muting the music etc when it should have. I also resynced the heated clothing and it appeared to be working again as well. The battery is now on the charger as testing the heated clothing killed it! 

Just have to get the new tyres fitted on Saturday and do an oil and filter change and all good to go.

Only 11 more sleeps. Back in July it seemed eons away. Looking forward to meeting all the members that attend, seeing a mass of STs and the good time to be had. I have 4 "surprise" trophies to add to the ones normally presented. To everyone travelling to the rally have a safe and memorable journey. BRING IT ON!

Nice one Ray - just in the nick of time mate!     


I just pulled out all my bluetooth gear and charged it, my uhf set - packed plenty of spare batteries, got the spare 2 litre fuel tin out (haven't filled it yet), got all the associated cords for hard drives, comms, cams, got out the camelbak pack to check it over (too late if sumting wong!).


New PR2 rear fitted and tested. Leaving cut down Summer screen on for this tour. Have a yet another nice surprise for OzSTOC Nat Rally attendees too - so this is packed as well.   


Checked and rechecked routes/ETAs/activities etc   


Haven't booked any accomm enroute yet tho.     


Yeah, I know- Mrs Diesel HATES this about me.               What evs!     


Oil/water etc rest of bike all good.     


If I seem premature, it is because I am leaving 0600 this Sat!

  Who needs accomodation, I use the IBA Motel. It is anywhere you stop the bike and is free!!!

Trouble with booking is if your making good time and feel you can go further, either you can't  or it'll cost you. So if the motels are full... Then onto the next town..

So no I haven't booked either just gunna play it by ear......

I haven't planned anything yet, apart from being there.  Have to have a proper think about it this week...and put the bike back together I suppose.  Basic plan seems to be chase down Diesel on the way there (can't be too hard  ).

On the way back will be stopping off in Colac Vic for a night or so with my mum as she has been in respite care lately so need to spend some time there when she is back at home.

Well I'm booked into Baladonia roadhouse Monday night and Ceduna Tuesday night then after that who knows I have the trailer almost packed and bike is just about ready to head east

Who from WA is leaving Perth on Monday I was going to head off 3 am for a easy run to Baladonia?

Basic plan seems to be chase down Diesel on the way there (can't be too hard  ).

Just look for the bright light that looks like a mobile nuclear power station..
