Modified Screen fitted
« on: September 14, 2012, 12:37:01 PM »
OK I have ridden around for a little while without a screen and thought what a great idea this is to get airflow happening, but I need something to finish off the look of the bike.  So I posted in the wanted section (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=2178.0) for a screen and I got a very kind donation from TIPSY with a screen he had sitting around.  He promptly posted the spoils of collecting bits and pieces and yesterday I received a box from Mr Postman and it had this in it:

So I promptly went about using one of these:

to make a few very minor modifications

After i did that I used some of this:

  and did this

So in 24hrs I have gone from:

to this:  and I'm now doing this :hatwave :runyay

Now 310mm from top to bottom at centre measurement.  Thanks again TIPSY for your generosity.  Salvos are a little richer for your donation too.

G'Day St riders I'm new to the group. Can any one suggest to me an after market windshield for my st1100. The one on on mine has been cut down and I'd like a higher one. Also I'm looking for abs parts if any on knows of any one wrecking st1100s (perish the thought).  I can supply the part numbers.  one other question what sort of fuel consumption can I expect?

I just did a 4000km ride and averaged just over 18.5 km/l (if you want l/100km you'll need to work it out). Eagle Screens do a couple of different sizes for the ST1100 they have a website with pics.

Hi Tubadave, try www.screensforbikes.com.au in Melbourne. They do any size (higher, wider, tinted etc) and mine was $260 delivered, 100mm higher and 50mm wider for 1100. I get around 5 to 6l/100km depending on right wrist movement, around 480km to 500km per tank.

As it is below the level of the dash it doesn't matter thank Mr smarty pants :grin because I couldn't see through it anyway before due to the other stuff mounted.

My screen from to to bottom is a touch under a half a meter at 47m.

Terry you said in your post that yours was 470mm from centre to top and mine is 310mm.  Are you planning on cutting yours down again?  I have ridden around with mine and I am happy with the height at 310mm so I'll see how I go with this for a while and reassess it after a couple of highway runs.

TabaDave there are a number of companies that sell screens that have extra height added if you like the higher screens.  Try eBay for parts also mate as there are plenty available - just watch postage before you buy.  Good luck buddy.

I've put a MRA VARI MAX on my St1100. It is 570 tall it comes in two sections so their is some adjustment of about 25 mm. I'm about 180 cm tall and can see over the screen easly. Beefa has also ridden mine he is a couple on inches shorter and can still see easly over the screen. Noise is reduced you can hear the bike instead of the wind and legal speeds you can ride with the visor up. The MRA are a great screen. Got it on eBay from England arrived is approx 8 days. The double screen allows for airflow. I would RECOMEND the MRA MAXI
