he has dialed an extra 17 cents since last post, is making good time, now 60 Km south of Marla

You've become quite a fan of living the ride by proxy and arithmetic.     ;-*

Usually you have to do some long calcs to get the kph, but he has taken the rare option of allowing it to be posted.

So that leaves, Cadney Park, Coober Pedy, Glendambo and Pimba as the only slow points until Port Augusta

The Feejer will be glad of the reprieve after the heat, and some boisterous sectors yesterday.

Even a Feejer will make it to Emmdale.       :p

It's been nearly 40 years since I've done that road so I didn't know about that roadhouse. Handy to know......Thanks Biggles

Good tucker too, apparently.  Been discussed on FarRiders recently.
Sadly, in that harsh country, some of these operations don't last as long as the bigger town set-ups.

Emmdale if it's 24hour is more likely a truck stop as it's on the most direct Sydney - Perth route

We must get up to Marla one weekend and meet the sis in law there. I doubt if the ST would make it the 40kms down the Oodnadatta track to her place.

I t was actually Lionel who had the bad fuel experience at Wilcannia

If he's overnighting Broken Hill, of course fuel there won't be an issue.
And he won't be refuelling at Wilcannia (or any but the BP yard) after Wombattle's experience there.
Even a Feejer will make it to Emmdale.       :p

Quite a bit behind the original schedule, but Lionel will be adjusting it to the conditions and how he feels on the fly.  I will try and contact him tonight about final plan, when into Canberra, are tyres etc needed before the Ozstoc 1600.  Great plans are flexible!

Gandambo, one of the few places we've stayed in a motel. Flag in it was back then. On our way back from Erldunda which we used as a base for The Alice and Ayers Rock.

I'm glad about that, the short cut accross the mud must have been fun....  I always prefered to stay on the causeway myself.

He's just went down the main street of Peterborough at 10:40pm SA time.

He probably wondered who the two idiots that were standing by a car in the cold waving at him as he rode past.

That's why you needed to be on the bike!     :grin

Goodonya for going out and cheering him on this time of the night!  He'll thank you when he reads this.  Plenty of time to think about things and savour that wave between now and bed time!    :eek

Heather asked whether I'd do something like this.

I had to remind her of my first Xmas trip back home of 4000km from Port Hedland to Adelaide in 3 and a half days.

At 1040pm SA summer time he went passed us so for the day he'd done 1356 kms (from google maps) from about 7:45 am this morning at an average speed of about 90 k/h (rounded up to 15 hours as it was only 5 mins).

They also have accommodation there as well......4 or 5 units

Current temp for Yunta is 8.8 but feels like 5.5 (wind chill factor I guess) with 5 forecast overnight

Speaking of cold, I was about 8 years old when I had to change trains at Peterborough late at night, on the way from Adelaide to the Hill, way back when they had different gauge railways... and it was SNOWING in Peterborough.. first time I had ever seen snow, and COLD!.... I suffered chill withdrawals so bad, I had 4 tonsils!

I remember doing changing trains when I was about 6,  more like Terrowie from what dad tells me. Checkout our Silverton weekend....shows my first school. I think we moved from Wallaroo to Cockburn

He has crossed the border at 2.00 am

All these time changes with some states on summer time and some not must get confusing times and The Hill on SA time as well.

I have a sister who lives in the Hill, Eyre st, right opposite the old South Mine entrance.
My bro used to live in west BH, he is a Master Craftsman of the printing industry, worked for the Barrier Miner newspaper years ago, but moved to Tanunda in the Barossa around 197...4?

I think I need a new brain........lol He would have lost an hour due to our summer time difference when crossing into SA so 14 hours to Peterborough and just under 97 k/h average
