The End
« on: April 18, 2013, 06:26:54 PM »
Just got home from the Ulysses AGM & whilst I was there, proudly wearing the OzSTOC shirt ofcourse, when I was approached by the Manager from Honda.
"Shame about the ST", he says, "All your mates are gunna be upset"
"What's that", I ask?
"Honda Australia will no longer be importing the ST1300 and we've been tasked to clear all of the remaining units at bargain prices".
"Tell your mates we do them at $16,990 ride away", he continues. (See the Facebook page)
"Hang on mate, what's the replacement", I query
"The VFR1200 of course"  :fp
"Oh for f$*^s sake", was my retort.
So to cheer myself up I took the F6B and the Goldwing Luxury for back to back test rides.
I really wanted to like the F6B and it is easier to ride than an ST (both of them were actually), but the seating position and suspension are shite.
Anyway - here's to our bikes  :beer
May they increase in value after the sale ends :thumbsup

P.S. I saw bikebear riding a very uncomfortable VT1300CX

Ah well, we will have to continue to build the club and show Honda that there is one awesome bunch of people who love what we have now, not a replacement that I would give my daughter  :thumb

Ah Well.   I think that we all expected that this was the fate of the ST1300, and we have now had it confirmed.   I must say that it is unfortunate that Honda has not seen fit to replace the ST with a similar class bike.  It how has nothing to compete against other manufacturers who are producing some great bikes in the mid to large tourer market, and it's own flagship, the Goldwing, now looks more like a cruiser.

That's a real shame, Rendog!  I looked at their range today, then went and threw a leg over the Triumph Sprint.  It has everything the ST1300 should.  I couldn't get excited about the F6B.  It's very chunky from the back, and there's no provision for a topbox.  The price is still too close to a real Wing with all the fruit, if one wants to go that route.
I'd say Honda has 2 years to replace the ST13 or lose their Sports Touring fan base, because we'll all have to move on at some stage just out of sheer envy for what the new bikes have that our 2002 technology bikes lack.  They'll always be around, only because they're bullet proof.  Just like BMW R60 and 75s are still ridden by diehards who have been afflicted by some sort of obsession.

So far nothing mentioned on Honda Australia facebook page.

ST1300 is still priced at $26,490 ride-away at Bills Motorcycles in Adelaide

Nothing under the news section at  Honda Australia website either

2010 and 2012 plated models are available in the states. http://powersports.honda.com/2012/st1300.aspx

If Honda Australia is no longer importing the 1300 then that might open up the door to import your own.

Nah.  Obsessiveness implies irrationality.  We're perfectly rational, logical and in some cases, good looking.    8)

The 'Wing is basically the same.

But here's the F6B.

Does this bike make my arse look fat?  Yep!

More leg room on the F6B. My knees don't rub against the fairing.
I won't be buying one soon though. The bike is just downright ugly.

As much as I like the wing.......the chopped version just doesn't do it for me

As for Ma Honda's replacement, the VFR1200F is certainly a nice looking bike - I looked at one when I got my ST - but a tourer it ain't.  :||||

The VFR1200 is far too much Sport and far too little Tourer.    I'd lean towards the new Triumph Trophy long before the VFR.    Will I get bannished for saying "Triumph" on this forum?

Thanks to all for making this a great place to be while we had it.
