I like the way you think but I imagine its probably a bridge to far, consider it is June. Shopping for gear this week and next. We will see what we can find.

Can someone (Marcus?) check to see if Danny is awake?  He could probably get there on his morning walk.

"I already told you like a million times I'm going to China, don't you listen to a single thing I say?"
"Well you do like bang on about stuff"
"why are we friends again?"
"so that's a no?"

Hmmm, Sue told me she now wants to go to this RTE!

But, she said it's too cold for the bike so we have to go in the car... :||||

Of course, I ended up in the poo for insisting we need to go on the bike as it's a bike RTE plus I'm also hanging out for a ride, yadda yadda yadda... :whistle

So, in the end we compromised...we're now going on the bike, unless the weather is crap...

So, after all that we now have:

So, after all that we now have:
  • Bodø
  • Helen & Michael
  • Russell & Sue
  • Nigel
  • ppopeye (Chris maybe)
  • Moto Guzzi MV Agusta Martin - maybe
  • BMW Doug - maybe
  • Yamaha Rob - maybe
  • Marcus

I too, find myself in a similar dilemma. For me anyway.
Long weekend means action at Rushworth.
Booked out Sunday for the RTE, and now its hey? What about the long weekend?
Can't,I say, already booked out?
My compromise is. Looking to ride to Rushy Sat morning, RTE as planned on Sunday then back and home on Monday.
Good plan? What could go wrong?
Nothing...............

If it all works might go up Friday arvo after work.

My plan is to ride unless ‘the weather is crap’
Casual observation.

If I ride the ST there can be a maximum of 4 STs at this RTE, so the chances are it will be less than that.

I didn't realise that weekend was a long weekend until Sue told me today...woops, a bit of bad planning there!  |-i
Might be the reason there's not that many names on the list...

It's also the reason I was confident I could make it so early on.  I wasn't sure if it was nationwide or just an SA bank holiday though.

It's the King’s Birthday long weekend here... :thumbs

What a coincidence his birthday is on the exact same weekend as his old mum!  :rofl

Oh, and it's also the start of the 2024 ski season...does that mean it may snow on the way to the RTE?

To be fair I've been to a few Victorian RTEs and for the most part the weather has been hasn't bee that bad.  Smythedale (2019) was a bit wet but certainly nothing like the wind of the Meningie RTE (2018) and rain of the Langhorne Creek RTE (2023).

Maybe I should have checked the weather forecast before posting that.  A shower or two is forecast for Ballarat on sunday.  :fp

It's not in Melbourne, it's at Sebastopol, around 120km west, a different climate altogether, usually not a much rain, but a few degrees cooler.

Maybe I should have checked the weather forecast before posting that.  A shower or two is forecast for Ballarat on sunday.  :fp

If it doesn't rain, it might snow.

Helen & I having a caravanning weekend at Daylesford, will drive the 45km (from Daylesford to Sebastopol) in the Jeep Grand Cherokee on Sunday, tested the seat and steering wheel heaters today, they're working fine.

Have messaged the Royal Mail Hotel, requested a table next to the log fire, will post an update when confirmed.

I made the mistake of only checking the Bendigo forecast until yesterday.
Bendigo forcast was 17 and fine. Not quite so good now.

When did BallarT not be wetter than the rest of the world. Its usually cold. True. But also drizzly and wet and cold.

I am riding at this point but we will see what the weather is closer to Sunday.

I'm gonna wait a few more minutes (or perhaps days) in the (probably vain) hope that the current forecast will change to fine weather before I make a decision on my mode of transport...  :whistle

It won't change my mode of transport, but the weather will dictate what action cameras I use.  I'm guessing the drone is unlikely to come out of it's bag.

I was going to do that too but Sue decided to spend a couple of days with her daughter in Melbourne but as she's still coming to the RTE, (I'll pick her up on the way) I needed to make a decision early as to our mode of transport...
