AW Thanks Wendy
I've only the cancer
never been depressed. Hope dad is all OK.
My aim with this is to get us "tough" blokes talking and doing something about it
Clean shaven pic to come, going the "Merv" this year, plus one on the bike (see my "ride"= https://www.facebook.com/events/176162512573109/?source=1)
My dad is doing really well. The cancer was 15 years ago, it was picked up through the PSA blood tests he started having after a close friend died from prostate cancer. He's had lots of ongoing complications following surgery and radiotherapy, but a couple of years ago he had a surgical procedure to fit an artificial sphincter which has finally fixed his incontinence problems. Unfortunately his two younger brothers are not doing so well. Despite his advice they didn't do any testing until they had prostate symptoms. Both of them now have secondary tumours.
My brothers and I were worried that dad's depression may become a problem again earlier this year after mum passed away, but because we were all (including dad) aware of the risk, he's been able to keep on top of it. He bought himself a Virago a few months ago and is now riding again. He had stopped after his last heart attack, but with the smaller bike he's able to get out there and enjoy himself.
As I said, these issues are close to my heart. Guys, get yourselves off to the doc, have the blood test, go back and get the results. It could save your life!!
