Evoline 2 / Shark Bluetooth 2.1 Kit
« on: March 11, 2012, 05:19:15 PM »
Sorry, I may have asked this before but I'm not sure. so here goes again. I have a Shark Evoline 2 lid and am looking at the Shark Bluetooth kit tht they are now making. Anyone have any experience of this, and if so is it any good? I do know that there are a few Evoline 2 wearers on this board, so I'd be grateful for any reports on this, good or bad. Also does anyone know if I can get one in Brisbane?

Cheers

ive just installed sharktooth 4 weeks ago in wifes and my shark evoline2 helmets. at first very frustrating as we have to re set intercom when turn it back on (still getting used to them). BUT wife and i say  :thumbs to the system, very securely attatched ,VERY slimline but (too hard to swap to another helmet then back but later will buy a backup bulky removeable set as prices drop) but as wife said LOVE IT no wires (had autocom). also got sena SR10uhf radio hub. as yet to test fully but when i used on rte to murwulimbarthe radio wasnt working properly

                                                   so YES id recomend

Hi Guys - I think Dale said that the Sena Hub is only to be used with Sena equipment as there may be compatibility issues with communication between the different brand devices.

Well, I just ordered the Sharktooth Bluetooth kit for my lid...$280 and shipped overnight from Melbourne via my local Topgun Yamaha MC store. I'll let you know what it's like once I get it and fit it.

i emailed sena and the reply was positive. here is the reply. the rte i was on last my radio didnot work properly and in a bad area but got comunication with barry "just", have also installed latest upgraded firmware. more testing soon i hope and let you know how it works

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your inquiry.

SR10 may be work fine with Sharktooth Interphone.
However, Sena can not guarantee the correct working.
Because, we didn't test with it.
We tested many different headsets in the market, including the major brands such as Motorola and Jabra, and we are pretty sure it works fine with them. But, even Jabra has tens of different models, and we can't test them all.
All I can say is we will keep testing more headsets and improve the compatibility with other headsets.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions and concerns.

Thank you.

it does go a bit both ways but i have successfully used it at home

OK, I got the Sharktooth yesterday morning (a day late!) and then spent the remainder of the day very frustrated trying to fit it to my non-ST Evoline 2 helmet. Because my helmet is not the one specifically designed with the right cutouts in the right places to fit the battery (nape of the neck) and the speakers etc it would have required some major surgery to force these bits into the right places, which I was not willing to undertake. the instructions are far too brief and in 96 different languages!, and the photographs in the instruction booklet are useless as they are too dark and don't actually show anything.

So I went back to the shop I got the Sharktooth from and said, "here you have a go". They tried and couldn't get it to fit either, so they rang Shark and talked to them, and to cut a long story short Shark said that it couldn't be done without getting really serious with it.

So, the situation is now that I have a Sharktooth headset which is designed for a specific Evoline 2 helmet, but not the Evoline 2 helmet that I have got, and so it will not fit.

The place where I got it from has said that they will do a direct swap for a Scala Rider if I take the whole thing back today...which I am going to do at lunchtime.

So, to sum it up I am not a happy camper, and am seriously under-impressed with Shark, the helmet is great but their design philosophy leaves a great deal to be desired!

Typical frogs!

Cheers all

I just got back from the shop and now have a shiny new Scala Teamset headset on my helmet, with the second helmet ready for the Finance Ministers helmet. Battery charging now, so hopefully I'll be up and running by home-time.

Total cost $20 over and above the Sharktooth set, and they fitted it at the shop for me in the space of about 10 minutes with no dramas at all. Now I just need to fine-tune the speakers for maximum noise. One small bonus is that the Scala will, I'm told, connect via Bluetooth to any other riders bluetooth intercom whereas the Sharktooth will only connect to another Sharktooth. This is yet to be proved...maybe on Saturday if anyone on the Grantham RTE has a Scala!

Must mention the great service from Top Gun Yamaha of Bundamba. These guys really know what they are doing and are happy to jump in and help out wherever they can. Nice to see good service!!!
