The River Road
« on: November 12, 2015, 06:05:42 PM »
I was up and away early on Tuesday heading for Wangaratta to visit Dad in aged care . Jumped off the slab at Gundagai and headed over to Tintaldra for a soft drink , unfortunately they were closed , they must have been worn out by Snowy Ride patrons. Rode one of my fav rides along the Murray into Albury then back on the hway into Wang.
After visiting Dad did the very short run through the Warbys and over to see Mum at Yarrawonga .
Today had a nice run home through Culcairn Coota and Harden... rain about and I had to have a two pie rest at Culcairn to wait out a storm, then wet roads home but very little rain.
Home in C B R  at 2 pm and spent an hour getting the roadwork crud off the bike .Looking forward to my next run over to Logan as its a place I have not been to.

Nice rides down there . . . I believe the Tintaldra Pub has new owners . . I hope they are renovating before opening again . . A nice pub but did need new owners . .  Maybe we can make it an RTE sometime?

Your right,  last time we stayed was in need of an update
It is a great RTE destination , either day ride or overnighter

I agree. Thats a beaty. I did it and the extra bit from Myrtleford to Whitfield on the non motorcyle a couple of years ago. Alright a few years ago. I presume a large part of that is stil unmade.

... the extra bit from Myrtleford to Whitfield ....... I presume a large part of that is stil unmade.

This route is all sealed:  https://goo.gl/maps/NCNvxJxG2vS2 .  The section b/t Whitfield and Oxley is generally straight and flat, except for a series of very fast sweeping curves a few km north of Edi, good for 100km/h +++ (so I've been told) make it very exciting.  The section b/t Oxley and Myrtleford is known as the Snow Road, seasonally (snow) very busy, heavily policed.

This route via the Rose River Road, has a section between Dandongadale and Cheshunt of good gravel, is acceptable for a road bike: https://goo.gl/maps/jyZS7F32oxG2 .  At least is was a few years ago when I took the Mighty CB1300, trailer and pillion across there (pillion wasn't too happy).  It's an important local road, no reason think it would be any worse, it's more likely the local Shire have extended the seal a km or two and keep it well graded..

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)
