afraid,,,,,,,,,,,,
« on: November 27, 2015, 08:06:21 PM »
I fear I am gonna hafta get rid of the ST... at this point, I can see myself getting into lots of trouble... cos I simply go too faST....because the bloody thing does it so easily. Today, sitting on 130 kph between towns was cool....... but on the main highway I was looking at 120ish.....because I had to look out for cops/cameras

The stupid part about it is that: when on the 4 lane divided road, where my survival rate is 90+%, I am forced to 110 kph. And speed (read revenue)cameras are prolific.  Whereas, on the back roads, where survival rate is 60ish%, I can cruise on 130 kph with limited fear of detection.

I have lived where I am for 20 years, and in that time, I have seen : 1 (yes one) camera, been stopped ONCE for a licence check, and have seen 3 (yes THREE ) police cars.

The funny thing is...... camera operators seem to be creatures of habit...... always setting up in the same place. You gotta be REAL stupid to be done by one of them  o:)

WTF......................... :OldMan

I find that I have to constantly ease back on the throttle, as the 1100 just LOVES to cruise comfortably at 118. (Speedo reading, which is about 10 kph higher than actual rate) It just happens to be the 'sweet spot'. I have no problems in SA with the 110 speed limit, it is just in Vic with the 100 limit (except on some Highways/freeways)

When distance travelling, I use the GPS rate of knots reading, which is truer than the speedo reading.

Speed camera operators in this area also park at the same spots, day after day, week after week... and all locals know of these areas and warn other drivers/riders who may be visitors. Must be quite a blow to the revenue raisers?

There are some limitations on where they can operate, ditto the hand-held radars.
They take into account the line of the road, line of sight to  next hill, available parking space and available "cover" (sound barrier fencing etc) to list a few.
Once they find a paying combination, it's easiest just to go there.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
