Author Topic: Suggestions for an alternative to FW1 Wax (Read 9653 times)

Howdy folks,
As some of you fine good people maybe aware I like to keep my toys in good order (orsmness).
In the past I've followed up my poST-ride wash with a generous application of the FW1 wax in an aerosol can.
This product I believe is somewhat over priced for what it is and so I pose the question to you my learned collective ....... Is there an equivalent (aside from the lil guy furniture polish) or better product available at a more reasonable price to that of the overinflated FW1.
I googled for an alternative and what I found was a myriad of condemnation from disgruntled ex employees who had pushed this product around the place like the proverbial 'snake oil'

I'd be looking at this range http://www.meguiars.com.au/ can buy from places like Supacheap. I've never heard of FW1 though from a web search I find it rather expensive.

I'm not sure what she uses to clean and polish my bike.

You're a ratbag!!

I always haggle with the Indians selling FW1 to get the price down to $20 a can- offer $80 for four. Then they throw in a pack of polish pads.

I use FW1 but have used Motul shine & go with great success......if just washing the bike that is only slightly soiled I use waterless wash......I try to avoid the hose and bucket approach unless it's really filthy.

I have used Mr Sheen once on my screen but it appears to have damage the surface. The only other thing I have used apart from water, is WD40. Has anyone shared my experience? I wouldn't be game to try it on my paint work.

I have used WD40 to remove stickers and bugs . . . No damage to paintwork or screen . .

I've used Mr Sheen for years on my OEM screen, BikeQuip screen, paintwork and chrome, and never had any adverse effects.

I am a mr sheen convert. I will wash down the bike for heavy soiling but have found for general road grime it is easy to apply and relatively inexpensive. I have used the wax and the high polish does seems to last longer but it should at the cost.

Hi Tech Yellow wax you cant beat it. Simple to use, can be a heavy or light coat.
a tin lasts forever and unilke FW1 there is no overspray to deal with.
no stop polishing that RED beaST ans take mummy for a ride!!!

The original question was about cost, and I think you'll find Plexus is just as dear as FW1.

Afternoon all.......well after the last gasp of FW1 expired from the can I've had to make a choice....continue buying an overpriced product or go back to being a lab rat in the autobahn laboratories and choose another poison ...........so here it is.....
