Brilliant!  He was on his own in that photo from a few days ago- obviously way out in front!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

He was 39minutes 40 seconds ahead of his Slovakian KTM teammate.

Well Done to Toby he kept his head when rivals went flat out in the early easy stages and came to grief one by one,  he was 3rd last year at his first Dakar.

also of note it is 10 years this month since Andy Caldecott riding a KTM in 2006 Dakar lost his life, Andy was from Keith in South Australia.

Absolutely awesome achievement, especially when a few years ago he was millimetres away from being a quadriplegic.
It's interesting to see all the TV stations have finally decided to report on the Dakar because of Toby Prices win after ignoring it for the last 2 weeks. At least SBS gives some coverage even if it is only 26 minutes a night.
