Doesn't seem like 50 years...
« on: February 14, 2016, 03:06:11 PM »
... have passed since decimal currency was introduced on this day in 1966.

I used to have a reasonable collection of pre-decimal coins and notes, until my ex partners son stole them about ten years ago.

I still got a few tucked away for safe keeping
I don't know if they will be worth anything much one day  :popcorn

I got a few round 50c pieces tucked away also, I think they are starting to be worth a bit more than their 50c value

Currently, circulated round 50s are worth around $4.50, mint condition uncirculated about $12.50 each.

I had 15 in mint condition until the boy found my stash, and swapped them each for a ciggy at school.  :fp :||||

Real clever.

I hear your pain Kev, about 40 years ago, My Dad traded in his 55 Chev (with the 6 cylinder engine) on a Marina TC...

I never let him forget that, but cant remind him about it any more.

A Morris Marina, eh!  1971, according to Google.
Now that was a memorable trade.  Ergh!

There sure have been some lemons in the auto industry!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

There was nothing wrong with the Chev...

Oh, you mean the gutless no good in a cross wind Marina....

And it was around 76, we still had the Chev in 71, and 72. The trade was after he moved to Perth, I had been in the Airforce a few years by then.

Our fathers could have been good mates my father voluntarily bought a marina.  It is the only car I know that was allergic to water.   The slightest hint of moisture in the air and it had more short circuits than you would think possible.  To this day it is still a standing joke (along side beta tapes for the vcr).

I kept my 1929 pennies - because that was the year of the great depression - but I threw out all my 1930 pennies because nothing much happened in that year!      :eek          :p
