Kate has been in Brisbane for a week undergoing spinal surgery, and
was released into the wild I came and picked her up from hospital on Monday afternoon. After a few more days of recuperation, Kate agreed we might try and see if we could get some local OzSTOC members interested in another RTE/dinner.
As Central/North Queenslanders, the occasional RTEs that complicated shifts allow us to attend, are a rare treat. Earlier the previous week, I’d had coffee and breakfast with Wild Rose (Leo and Robyn), who was in town for a wedding. He told me we should seize any opportunity to get together with other members, and post it as an RTE. Gadget was kind enough to resurrect his previous piece on the Albany Creek Tavern RTE we’d had in February and gave it a new date, at very short notice - 24hrs!
We were a bit dubious that anyone would show up at such short notice on a Thursday night, but we were stunned when the numbers rose from 2, to 4, 8, and then the final attending number of 12! What a good turnout and great effort, you guys! Also good to see both halves of riding teams.
As always the Albany Creek Tavern accommodated the extra number seamlessly, the food was great and well priced (great bacon wrapped steak!) and the company and conversation made for an excellent evening.
It isn’t the last time we’ll be passing through Albany Creek, so we’ll be sure to put out the call next time, hopefully with a bit more notice!
