Ignition cut out
« on: June 26, 2016, 04:40:13 PM »
Looking for ideas!
I took my new 2008 1300 out for a spin yesterday after the SAParinga RTE and found an isolated road (pretty much only used for harvest traffic and no intersections for 5kms).
I took it up to a bit over the old ton when the ignition decided  to turn off. Most disconcerting and as I coasted to a halt, it would not "jump" start or start with the starter. I stopped the bike, turned the key off then back on again and it started as if nothing had happened. I doubt I accidentally hit the red off switch and then on again without realising it and if I did, why didn't the bike jump start when I tried.
I guess my main concern is I don't want it to happen again while I'm passing a B Double with a car or two up my date.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks Mark

It sounds as if the tip-over switch was accidentally activated by the vibration or a bump or your nervousness.
Turning off and on again reactivates the ignition.

Thanks Biggles, hope it doesn't happen again. Oh, yes, a quaint South Aussie expression .
Cheers ...Mark
