It has nothing to do with how many lights they have
It has nothing to do with what the siren sounds like
It has nothing to do with modulated headlights
It has nothing to do with the flashing rate of the lights
It has nothing to do with the cycle rate or decibel level the siren is set at
It has nothing to do with the 4x3 inch badge on their shoulder which is of course easily identifiable from 500 metres away at 100 kph
Better look up your statistics as I'm sure there has been more than one instance of impersonating a police officer in the history of Policing in Australia.
So come back with some other reason why your right and I'm wrong, but this is my last word on this subject..
what the siren sounds like
It is strobbing blues and reds, and alternating left and right headlights and a siren with different, but Police specific tones.
And there are a awful lot of red and blues.
You could always advise single females or anyone to continue riding at the speed limit to the nearest servicestation where security Camas offer some protection.
There has only been one fake unmarked car and that was in Victoria and that was only hearsay, never proved. The level of punishment for the offence for impersonating a Police Officer is quite severe.
Do you think you'd see that in the mirrors on a bike? And as Pete said in SA they dull down the patches...
I don't really care about entrapment or whether it's fair or not ... My concern is only rider security... A dark bike comes up behind you, the rider is dressed in dark clothing (I'm sure you won't see the arm patches) blue and red lights come on and that's all you get that this is a police officer.
Your a female riding home from work, the road is quiet and your telling me it's ok for her to pull over and trust that it's a police officer when the only indicator is the blue lights. Your advocating that because this "female" was speeding she should surrender her safety and pull over......and if it isn't a police officer then she was just asking it......
What are you telling your kids...that only Police have blue lights .... If your not sure pull over anyway???
We've told our kids if in doubt don't pull over call 000 and/or drive to a police station.
In this day and age the bad guys don't play by the rules anymore....
I don't either. You choose to take the risk, you choose to risk the consequences. I've paid the price financially on occassions. My own silly fault.

I don't think it's that Gadget, watching this subject on other sites the main concern is single rider security especially lady riders pulling over for an unmarked unidentified bike. A little different to an unmarked car where the police are in uniform.
My wife rides and she has said she would be terrified to pull over for an unknown bike. Anyone can buy blue lights and blue lights alone doesn't make a police vehicle to the public.
I believe the solution is to send the infringement via post the same way red light cameras and fixed and mobile speed cameras work.

QPS on unmarked bikes, still wear full Police uniform including the badges you can see on the jacket in the photo.
