RR: QLDs Farewell to Diesel RTE
« on: September 03, 2016, 08:08:39 PM »
This was a rather special RTE as it was the last RTE that Diesel will be attending in QLD before heading off on his migration to Tassie :'(
Anyway this is how the day went for me :thumb

Carrol and I headed off at about 10:00 (In the car as I didn't want to make my neck any worse riding up the highway >:())
We arrived and parked in the car park away from the venue a little so everyone could park together.
After a short time everyone started to arrive (everyone that wasn't already there that is, a few of the guys had arrived before us and were already inside)

We all gathered together and entered the venue for some good food and great conversation
Luckily we are a friendly bunch as it was a tight fit around the tables (I hadn't booked enough seats for everyone that attended :fp) but this did make it much more social :thumb

After we were all fed we walked outside for a group photo

Once the pics were done we headed out to look over everyone's bikes WOW:

Once this was done we said our farewells and everyone headed off

It was a great day, perfect weather, a great venue, good food and awesome people :thumbsup

I think everyone had a great time on Diesel's final QLD RTE

Thanks everyone that was able to make it and thanks to Diesel, QLD will miss you mate :hatwave

Great pics, great gathering. Has Deiesel blacked out parts of his headlights? Is that to reduce light splatter?

He is using the LEDs I had and their cut off is not ideal, the glowing element is too visible from the front.

To avoid blinding oncoming drivers, and the 'blow back' of light from highway signs, he's using these on his headlight protector to create the cutoff.

My alternative is to get two circuar discs of aluminum painted painted black glued to the front of the lamps to recreate the cutoff.

I see Diesel's ST1300 up in the Mt Coot-tha carpark today.
He gets around, does our Dave...    :grin
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
