ST1300P top speed restrictions bypass
« on: November 06, 2016, 12:00:43 PM »
QuoteModifyRemove
The ST1300P (police) bikes  :wht13  have an inbuilt speed limiter which restricts them to 195KPH

From what I am told this was because they got a speed wobble at high speed because of the single seat radio pod that was used on the U.K. model bikes.

Not saying I want to go that fast,  :whistle :whistle but it would be nice to have a little extra on the odd occasion.

I have spoken to the Honda Mechanics and they have no idea about what they are capped at or how to bypass the restriction.

I just saw this on the Web, does anyone have ideas whether it would work on our bikes and how easy it would be to set up?

A SpeedoHealer is for speedo calibration...yes it will work on your bike....NO it will not remove a speed restriction/limiter thats been built in.
If you wish to remove the speed limiter maybe an ECU from a non police bike will do it...but first maybe try the ECU reset thsat has been discussed in another thread recently.
But if not doing track days why would you need it in the first place????
Correction - it would appear this model can remove speed restrictions. 2 previous models I had fitted to the Vulcan and the S10 did not have this feature

One day you will wake up and there won't be anymore time to do the things you've always wanted so do them NOW!!!
Remember there are 7 days in a week and Someday isn't one of them!

Hi John,
I think that the effectiveness of that device would depend as to weather it is designed to modify the pulse ratio from the drive shaft pickup so as to alter and possibly correct the speedo reading  in any and all gears, and or, to  also act  as a rev. limiter,as driven from an ignition,  or crank angle pulse, pick up, and consequently restrict the vehicles maximum revs. and therefore its maximum speed in any  and all gears.
Perhaps the only option you have is to ask the pertinant question from the supplier.

I would be reluctant to go that fast John, especially as those white FJR riders have been pretty active on the roads recently, the Barstewards

 o:) o:) o:)

Not that the 1100 can go that fast (Only had it to 205, in controlled conditions of course)

I remember cranking my ST1100 up to 195 a long time ago and it was as steady as a rock, (racetrack of course)

The ST1300 has not been wound up that fast yet, and I dont have any plans to do so at the moment, but I just don't like the idea of being speed limited because I have white bike,

I am wondering if it is a case of "I should of bought a red one, because Red ones go faster" :think1 :think1

As for those nice white FJRs, they have just brought out the latest ones with the R1  6 speed gearboxes, and I am lead to believe they go MUCH faster!!!

But I still believe the ST is a better cruising bike and I know which one I would rather ride across Australia on.

The white 1100 still has an effect on the freeways, sometimes even get a wave from those FJRs, not the angry kind either.

In some controlled conditions with panniers and a top box I managed to get 207 kph on a track ..... I have often wondered how much faster I might have got with a reduced screen and no panniers or top box.

Not interested in going any faster than that really but would have liked to give the NT roads a run but now that seems to be a thing of the past because I cant get there before the speed reduction comes in to force.   :'( :'(

:blu13 I purchased an FJR 1300 in 2004, road it to Adelaide from Brisbane, went very well BUT many, many times had to stop and rest my Butt. So on my return to Brisbane I went to Noyes Honda Brendale and traded it for the 2004 ST 1300 "BLUE" paid $900.00 for a topbox to complete it.
OK, running in completed serviced and a few more k's. I decided to test my top speed (unfortunately ILLEGALLY) :cop :cop I went to Adelaide via Hay Plains decided to test my BLUE BEAST. found a nice straight stretch  (not hard in that area) so time time to test, screen up, top gear, twisted throttle fully open and waited for the speedo to reach as far as it would go. I was very surprised and happy to report that my BLUE ST1300 reached a top speed of 256kph  :-((( :-(((  :well :grin :grin, being happy with that I never ever took it past 140kph from that time on, just needed to know what it could do  :grin :grin YES it was highly ellegal, I have mellowed since then :-(((
