Well sort of, the story below explains.
Accidently paid it forward this afternoon. As I was riding home, my left front indicator wasn't working so I pulled over on Moreton Drive to fix the loose wire. I pulled up behind a motorcycle (Ducati) and a Taxi. I assumed the Ducati had broken down and he was getting the cab home.
The guy in the bike gear was looking a little stressed, so as I remounted my bike to head home I caught his eye and gave a nod. He asked me something, so I pulled over, turned off the music in my ears, and asked him what he said. He said he was from Victoria, and he had come up for the Ulysses at Maryborough and his wife flew in at 1 pm this afternoon (it was now 5:40 pm), however, she flew into Sunshine Coast Airport. As he'd used his GPS in his phone, his phone was flat and he didn't know how to get to Sunshine Coast Airport. The Taxi was going to charge him $300, to guide him to the sunny coast. He offered me $200, to guide him. I declined and said I'd do it for nothing. He then said he needed fuel, so he'd top my bike up for the trip up and back.
At the Shell at Nudgee, I discovered he has a Honda ST100 back in Victoria and tha someone from OzSTOC had given him a card at the Ulysses meeting yesterday.
We plugged his phone into the USB charger I'd fitted to the my bike and we stopped again at BP Caboolture so he could give his wife a call. We let her know we'd be about another hour and took off again.
50 minutes later we pulled up at the Sunny coast Airport and Des and Nora were re-united. Again he wanted to pay me and again I declined. He'd covered my fuel costs, given me an excuse to stretch the legs on the ST and an opportunity to test the new headlight bulbs I fitted over the holidays.
I think we both benefitted, so I'm happy and I know he and Nora are very grateful I decided to stop there. All round win I think.
