I thought I would point you to a nice article by Greg Leech who did a write up on buying a used touring bike and he pays particular attention to the ST1100 and ST 1300.  The article can be seen in the December edition of Australian Road Rider.

Yes, interesting discussion about the 1100 but photos of the 1300.  Maybe next issue....

Which issue no is that article in?  Looks like a good mag to subscribe to but I might also want to get the back issue that has this article.
A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.

I think it is the latest issue, Jan/Feb 2018 (no 142). I’ve read this mag before it is a good one.

Got their years mixed up a little with the ABS.

1995AS Model had the earlier version (ABS 1 in come circles) which used the standard two pot callipers all round plus traction control.

1996AT saw the introduction of triple pot callipers, combines brakes, Updated ABS modulators/computer the traction control to complete the package. Often said to be ahead of it's time with the ABS\TCS\CBS all in package.

Not sure I'd agree with the front spring comment as mine still has original, the rear is a different story in that the seals didn't last to long.
The swing arm I didn't think was a big issue out here; the UK and anywhere else they put salt on the roads in winter causes continual swing arm issues.

Lack of lubrication and/or the wrong grease on the final drive splines when ever the rear wheel is removed is the biggest issue followed by the cush drive.

Combined brakes might be an issue for those who tend to trail brake heavily in bends because there's no independent Front/Rear braking.
