Flat Battery

I went for ride last week 
Put bike away in shed
I went to go for ride today
Keys still in ignition turned on 
What do I do?
Charge battery. Then I thought I got portable battery pack so I jumper started it and away I went
Well I got over to the other side of town, while stopped at traffic lights it stopped
Dead flat again lucky I took battery pack so jumped it again and away I went
Well it stopped twice more still flat
Finally I got it home 
Now it is on CTEK charger
Hope the battery is all right
The ignition would have left on for a week. Does anyone think I have a chance or new battery   
It is a Yuasa only a couple years old

Well I may have had a win
I put battery on charge CTEK mxs5.0 well not much happening 
I spoke to Battery World who said the battery won't take charge if it is dead flat
They suggested to hook it up with another good battery and leave stand overnight
So that it can draw energy from the other battery
I had another idea 
Why not hook up my portable jump battery starter to it 
Well after 1 hr or so it showed it was getting a little charge 
This morning after 24 hrs it is saying fully charged
I will take it down to Battery World and get them to check it
Stay tuned
But can I trust it on a long ride

Whenever you go for a ride, you'll now be thinking  "Will that battery get me home?".

The reliability of a new battery will be remembered long after the cost is forgotten.

The intelligent chargers wont charge a flat battery, but the old elcheapo battery chargers will. They will just try to push the max current that the transformer can handle. Sometimes old school is best.

Well I went to Battery World today
the battery showed 12.5V but cranking power low
So new battery was bought and piece of mine returned
Lesson learnt.
I just keep repeating "I am stupid" 
So all the voters who voted Yes are correct

Me too!  But the first time I needed it, guess what!  It was flat too.  I later learned, that it should be put on charge every so often.  I think I better get down to the garage and do it now.

And another item with the jump starter battery is the iPhone charging port and lead.  The iPhone battery was dead flat one evening on the return trip from Wooli.  I put it on charge whilst I was having dinner and presto the jump starter battery charged it quicker that any other chargers, including the 240v wall charger or car charger.

Quick?  Yessiree!
