VIDEO RR - QLD RTE Goomeri Bakery - Sat 19-05-2018
« on: June 04, 2018, 05:30:11 PM »
G'day everyone,

Sorry for the lateness of this RR, I've been busy with work and when I wasn't, I have been working on my bike.

Anyway...

Below is a video Ride Report covering the RTE to the Goomeri Bakery in QLD on the 19th of May 2018.
It was a great RTE and one that everyone appeared to enjoy
Thanks to everyone that was able to make it, you all made it a great day

Anyway I hope you enjoy the video:

I didn't know the Ettamogah pub was no longer called that.  It's been over two decades since I went out that way.

And for what it's worth I mispronounced a lot of Queenland localities when I lived there.  Even Mount Gravatt.

Thanks mate, it's good to know I'm not alone with mispronouncing the names of places :grin

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ettamogah_Pub

"The second Ettamogah Pub opened at the Aussie World theme park at Palmview on the Sunshine Coast in 1989. It was opened by then Premier Mike Ahern. Construction took nine months and it cost $4.5 million. A 1927 Chevrolet sits atop the roof of the building. This follows a flood in the cartoon after which the owners couldn't be bothered to remove the vehicle. To celebrate its 21st year of operations the pub began brewing and selling its own beer.
In 2014, following a dispute over intellectual property rights, this pub has since changed its name, and removed any of the cartoon likenesses, although the shape of the building is still instantly recognisable and locals still refer to the pub as the Ettamogah."

Cheers

No worries mate. We do have some 'doozies' all around this great country. News readers often get 'little known places' incorrect as well. Kilkivan is another 'culprit' in the same locality. Often heard pronounced Kil car van but it is pronounced Kill key vun with the emphasis on KEY. Language is an interesting animal.  :grin
