Another "Big Things" Ride
« on: September 10, 2018, 07:26:49 AM »
I'm off this morning on a five day jaunt with my mate Fish (known to some of you), exploring NSW and Vic, and collecting some photos of our bikes with "Big Things"    :hatwave

Pete's gone all quiet.  Must be having too good a time without us.
Or maybe he hasn't found any big things yet.
And Pete- a bike next to a giraffe isn't a bike next to a big thing.  All adult giraffes are big.  We need a big thing like the Adaminaby trout.
I was kicking myself as we left the camp ground in Mackay.  About two kays down the road was a big banana standing on its end wearing sunglasses (as the stylish ones do up here).
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Nonsense!   If a giraffe came clomping through your lounge room, I'm sure you would say  "What's that big thing doing here?"  or words to that effect.

I went drinking at a pub one night with a giraffe.
He drank too much and passed out on the floor.
As I turned to leave, the barman called :  "Oi, YOU... are you just gonna walk out and leave that lying there?"

I said  "That's not a lion ... It's a giraffe!"

FIsh and I have just got home from our quest for "Big Things" through NSW, with a couple of forays into Victoria.    NEVER stay at the Lakeside Caravan Park at Broken Hill, as it's a dump and we should have grabbed a motel unit instead of the awful cabin in an awful and run down caravan park (The good one in town was full).     Our overnight stays were at Broken Hill, Nyngan, Narrandera, and Swan Hill, and we covered around 2,600km in the five days. I hit a suicidal Currawong yesterday, which has inflicted some minor crazing in my plastic headlight housing.   Bugger, but that's the price of motorcycle touring and having a good time.

I'll post a swag of pictures on the "Big Things" thread.   ++

We bagged about 18 Big Things on out tour, and we have all of those that you've mentioned, except the Big Bench at Broken Hill.

I since read the other thread.  I don't have the Big Bench either.
