Short Summer Screen
« on: November 28, 2018, 10:44:53 AM »
At only 5"5' I have no problem with wind buffeting.
In fact, I have the opposite problem. I get too hot because I don't have enough air flow behind all the fairings and screen.

Has anyone tried the shorter summer screens, or just chopped theirs down?

Does anyone have a cracked or old screen they can sell me to experiment with?

Thanks for any advice or help

PM Diesel.  He cut down an ST screen.

I still have the cut down screen from my burnt 1100 (it burnt in winter) so screen has hung in shed ever since. Yours free. Can take to Walcha RTE on 15th Dec if your coming or can get someone who is to take for you.

There's some stuff here about cutting down a screen.  The Calsci screens are acrylic, but it might also apply to polycarb.

A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.

Thanks STeveo. I'll need to have a serious think about the 5 hrs each way for the RTE... Might be a Christmas treat for myself.

STeveo, I will be in Tamworth for Australia day, though.
Could I pick it up then or will you be fleeing for the coast on the long weekend?

Cerebral Knieval said he may drive down from Brisbane
If he goes he may be able to bring it back

Tried to send a spare screen to a member in Brisbane from when I was working in Whyalla SA. Was sending it to him for postage cost only as he allowed me to buy a replacement screen he had already claimed. Was shocked to find out it would cost $90 to post through Australia post and $100 by courier. Felt bad not being able to send it to him as postage was so restrictive with cost.

That is why we have the OzSTOC Courier service. There is usually some one going some where that has room for smallish objects. Sometimes it works pony express style.

I have cut down numerous screens over the years, the most difficult part is working where and what shape to cut, after that mask up with masking tape quite well and mark, then using a fine tooth blade on a jigsaw do your cut, file smooth after removing the tape.
