ST1100A - 1999 - WITHDRAWN FROM SALE
« on: February 22, 2019, 11:22:01 AM »
My bike is no longer for sale. The transport needs of an old and dear friend have taken priority. Thank you to those who have shown an interest.

I hoped it would never come to this, but life catches up with us all. I haven't ridden my bike for about three months and I find I am increasingly reluctant to get back into the saddle. Time to walk away.

1999 ST1100A

Blue with original gold pin-striping.
Currently registered as a solo seat (in Qld). Everything supplied with the bike to make re-certification to dual seat possible.
Modified police seat and pod with lockable storage. The pod is sprayed to match the bike (a close, but not perfect match). This is not a bike from the police service.
Givi 45 litre top-box
MC electronic cruise control (Vacuum actuator) (new throttle cables fitted when CC was fitted)
Staintune pipes fitted. Baffles fitted. Original pipes supplied, although they are off another bike (thank you again Streak). They are not perfect, but fit/work just as they should. I prefer the Staintunes, because the fuel consumption is slightly better and the mildly increased note is nice!
12V outlet
Heated grips
Hazard lights
Wolfman tank-bag (straps, not magnets)
106 K Km (I've owned this bike since 34 K).
Always serviced at 10 K intervals.
New Yuasa battery.
RAM Ball fitted to steering stem.
Tyres are at about 50%
Higher and further back handlebars fitted. Originals and trim supplied. The only part missing is a small black plastic tube that dresses the ignition switch barrel hole in the bar cover. This is non-essential, but could be sourced, I'm sure, as either a new part, or from a wrecked bike if the missing bit of trim offends the eye.
MRA Vario Maxi screen fitted. I have two of these screens, one of each of the MRA supplied heights. These screens come in two parts and one base has never been fitted to a bike. I might consider offers for the spare, but anyone buying the bike should have the choice of the higher or lower. I have used the taller screen, but I like to sit upright when riding.

I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2, with no SIM in it, that has GPS software on it, that works nicely inside the waterproof case that mounts onto the RAM Ball. This will talk to your Bluetooth enabled helmet, if you have one, or can throw in a used after-market Bluetooth set that can be fitted to most helmets.

This bike is a going concern with roadworthy certificate supplied upon sale. To my knowledge, there are no surprises waiting around the corner, but of course with a bike this age who really knows. I have never been let down by this bike. It has never (in my time) been on its side. There are, as you would expect with a 20 year old bike, a few scratches and minor blemishes.

The Redbook value as a private sale is $5650 - $6700. Wow! Get real! As a trade it is $3900 - $4650.

I am asking $4100, which I think is reasonable given that it has electronic cruise. Of course, I am prepared to negotiate. Location is Burleigh Heads, Qld.

I would like to see this bike go to somebody who will appreciate the quality and comfort that these bikes offer. If you want to do a lap of Oz, then this could well be the bike you need.

Hi Bluey,
Sorry to read that you have found that it's time to step off the bike, but I guess it will come to all of us eventually.   I trust you find a keen buyer who will appreciate the bike for the capable tourer that it is, and that you find something else to fill the void.   :'(

That's a good bike for the right money, considering its improvements.  Even without the CC and heated grips it's good buying.  I recent times they've fetched $5000, but at your price you shouldn't have to wait a long time for a buyer.
Like Pete, I'm sorry you have to hang up your helmet but it's a fact of life.  There will be a void, but if you haven't ridden for a few months you might well have found your next challenge already.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
