A lonely intersection, the Threeways, (Darwin,Mt Isa, Tennant Creek)
Many years ago, before the servo was built just north of the intersection, Jeff and I rested there. It was a coin toss if we should travel to Darwin, or head south to home.
We decided to have a cuppa, so got out the gas bottle and put the billy on. We were amused that there was a bus stop sign at the intersection, thinking that it was a joke.
Soon a bus pulled up, and we were abused for parking on the bus stop!
Apparently a northbound bus from Tennant creek heading for Darwin meets with the westbound bus from Mt Isa which is heading to Tennant creek, and passengers for Darwin changed bus here.
Nowadays the bus pulls into the servo just up the road, next to the John Flynn Memorial..
