A really good question. From a very quick and dirty search it seems, in relation to an observer rather than a person involved in the accident:

"Under common law, there is no legal duty on any individual, regardless of whether he or she is a doctor, to rescue where there is no prior relationship. However, there are some exceptions to the general presumption that there is no legal obligation to provide emergency aid as a Good Samaritan."

In the Northern Territory, Section 155 of the Criminal Code states:

Any person who, being able to provide rescue, resuscitation, medical treatment, first aid or succour of any kind to a person urgently in need of it and whose life may be endangered if it is not provided, callously fails to do so is guilty of a crime and is liable to imprisonment for seven years.

I think most people will do what they think is the right thing at the time.

Perhaps we have some retired legal gurus amongst us who can shed some light on this.

That may be difficult to prove, and how would you track all the people who didnt stop..

If you dont stop, then you wont know that some one needs assistance, and are you able /qualified to help..??

Just sayin...

Years ago my employer offered me a chance to do a first aid course.  My worry was what if I got something wrong in the heat of the moment would I be liable and consequently declined.  There's a first aid kit in my bike that I bought in 2014 and it was never been opened, but it's always there along side my puncture repair kit.

You shouldn't feel you can't render assistance as you are covered by the "Good Samaritan" Law...

Speaking of a "Good Samaritan", my ex wife was killed while attempting to be a Good Samaritan...

She lived on a corner block where it wasn't unusual for cars to run off the road.

Early one morning she heard an almighty bang so, thinking a car had crashed and being a nurse, she went outside to see if they needed assistance.
Unfortunately for her, it wasn't a car accident, but a large tree falling, bringing down powerlines...
She apparently walked straight into them and was killed instantly... >:()

If you are paid a first aid allowance, then you are legally obliged to render first aid. If not then NO...

But you are not obliged to render first aid away from the work site..

I did a work place first aid course, and the Law was part of the course..  Fortunately was never required to use it... Apart from home injuries..

I meant thongs.

They looked like slip-on scuffs to me, Bodo, so you might have been right the first time. :rofl :rofl

The April Fools' reel is quite extraordinary.  Over 20 minutes of aggressive, lawbreaking hoons posting videos of themselves policing other people's driving!!!  "April Fools" is well named.  The thousands of comments below the vid are worth a look.  There's even two screens of comments included in the vid by the admins observing the errors of the owners of the dash cams.
I've seen a few incidents on DCOA vids where the owner is at fault, but this reel tops them all for multiple examples of blind stupidity by the camera owner.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Comments here are generally correct. Re the NT law you would not be callously failing to help f you feared for your safety or your passengers safely.
In general helping is voluntary and your are protected by common law.

The ute at 4:32 losing it at the Tollgate/ Old Colonial going UP the hill must have been trying hard.

Way too many red light runners there.  Horrible watching those bikers going down!   :'(
How about those runners!  Thieves and "not stop after accident"!
