No longer available it seems, I use earmold plugs that connect to the Sena bluetooth thingy.

+1 for the earmolds. Normal plugs hurt my ears, but can use earmolds all day. Overdue for a new set (10 years old now)

I need to replace mine as well, as they have fallen apart ( wiring that is) and my ears seem to have changed slightly so the old plugs dont fit quite right.

If you go to someone that makes them they should be able to refurbish them for a small cost

I have tried every type of in-ear hearing protection that I cvould get my hands on, but nothing works as effectively as a well made soft foam plug. This may be a bit of a Thread Hi-Jack, but I'm passionate about hearing protection.

Thats what will happen Leo, new ear plugs, new plastic tubes (age embrittlement) and new audio connection (wiring has collapsed due age). In all total new kit, I will see if I can organise it soon . I have had several sets of plugs from the supplier, and a few audio bits replaced over the last 6 or 7 years

Go to the Earmold site, they have a variety of ear plugs on offer in addition to their molded ones. I have a couple of pairs of the expensive molded for you models, but also a few pairs of those similar to the ones in your link.

Just be a little careful with the Alpine Moto-safe earplugs if you have large ear canals. I bought some and had terrible trouble trying to pull the bloody things out at the end of the day. The love affair with them ended when Stinky Pete and I rode back from Border Village (2017?) and we stopped at Nullabour for a break and I couldn't retrieve one of the damn things and I had to get Pete to dig it out.
I then went to the Peltor No Touch recommended by Pete and they were very, very good, However, when I bought the BMW helmet, (built by Schuberth) it was so tight fitting I couldn't use the Peltor with its in built extraction handle. I came across Moldex Spark Plugs disposable foam earplugs and for me, these are just perfect. (NRR 33dB & SLC(80) 29dB Class 5 -- no idea what that means, but I'm impressed) $62.50 for 200 pair & even better when on special.

Thanks for the heads-up re: MotoSafe earplugs, Mark...

According to this review "https://motorbikewriter.com/alpine-motosafe-earplugs-just-got-better/" they have changed them a bit in recent times so they are now supposedly a bit easier to remove...

I must admit, I'm not a fan of earplugs myself...maybe I should give them a go though, especially on long rides...assuming this Covid thing ever lets us.

The previous two linked and associated articles are worth a read. I just wish I had hearing protection when I was younger both on a bike and when driving posts into the ground at a vineyard for weeks on end. The tinnitus today might not be so pronounced.

Just a pair for myself and Theresa.
I normally don't use ear plugs and none of my bikes are noisy and I don't get a lot of wind noise.
When working I hated conventional ear plugs and much preferred ear muffs but they don't work on as well on my crash helmet as they did on my hard hat.
I liked the video I saw on these so thought I would try them.

I actually don't feel that my ST & Shoei Neotec 2 helmet are particularly noisy...whether that's because hearing damage has already been done, I don't know!

I have the screen raised enough when I'm riding to deflect the wind over my head which enables me to ride with the visor up with, what I feel is minimal noise.

Maybe I'll buy a few disposables and give them a try down the track, just to see how I cope before I lash out on some decent ones...

To be honest, I had a bad experience using some earplugs to try to sleep within a noisy houseful of kids and it actually freaked me out, I felt very disorientated so since then I've really been hesitant to try them again.

I went for earmolds, as that was the best option to plug into the Sena bluetooth to hear intercom, phone, GPS, UHFCB.

used ear mould for years tiil i lost one, excellent product.
got a DIY kit from them not happy, too hard and could not get the right fit.
went to these from supercheap. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/stanley-stanley-earplugs---with-case-1-pair/215785.html, longer available, same thing from them, made by norton $10. these suit me fine and given my loosing things skills $ is OK. easy fit and removal.

Based on this I thought I’d try the spark plugs myself for our trip last weekend. Got a pack of 500 for about $70 from my local RSEA. The risk was not so much of wasted money, but more about having 498 unused plugs lying around if I don’t like them.

I actually found them great, and a huge leap above the foam plugs you can get from pharmacies. They don’t kill all the sound like the earmolds do, but they tone down the wind noise admirably without making me feel artificially sealed off from the environment. I found that I could easily listen to my Sena through them, and I could talk to folks at stops without having to remove them first.

We covered about 2000k over 4 days, and I found them very comfortable and effective.

Strangely, riding the V-Strom with its piddly screen and bugger all faring, the helmet noise is so much more quiet than when riding Scarlett with the larger aftermarket Bikequip screen. I remain very happy with the Sparkplug earplugs.

However, whilst the V-Strom is the bike of choice for around the town and rides involving unsealed roads, the ST is the bike of choice in all other situations given the smoothness of the V4 (doesn't have the noticeable vibration of a Beemer (or V-Strom)), it rides corners like it is on rails (very forgiving), it takes 91RON and it doesn't have a chain that needs attention when I should be drinking beer. I'm looking forward to the new, whole of life (almost), chain that's been developed by BWM (and thank goodness interest rates are so low, I might even be able to buy one).

Steve, I just reread my old post and then yours - 500pairs for $70 - you did very, very well.

I probably wasn’t very clear on the pricing. I didn’t get 500 pairs. I figured that 250 pairs (500 plugs) would be enough for now. It was $70-something for the 250 pairs.
