Transport Accident Commission Victoria

If you crash and you’re not wearing protective clothing, it only takes 0.03 seconds for the sneaker to burst.
0.6 seconds for the jeans to disintegrate.
The hoodie – gone in a mere 0.03 seconds.

Bit more that 'quite' graphic.  My skin's still crawling.  Better than shredding though.

Watching that, I can't help but think some of my textile jackets and pants (for comfortable travel in summer) might be found very wanting even at that relatively slow speed. I've gone for a slide with leather pants and jacket and bruising to the hip and ego were the only casualties, but they are just too hot for me when it's over 30.

I'm much the same, Mark... ++

I remember some years back there was quite a push by our safetycrats to make motorcycle gear compulsory but there was so much gear out there that was next to useless so it's been good that we now have the likes of Motocap to help us make an informed decision as to what gear performs the best...  :clap

Speaking of the compulsory wearing of motorcycle gear...  :whistle
I'm reminded of a story about some "safetycrats" (that were pushing for compulsory motorcycle gear) attending a motorcycle function.
In line with their agenda, they thought it would be good to arrive by motorcycle (pillion)...
So the TAC (Transport Accident Commission) kitted them out in full safety gear which must have cost a pretty penny for a one time use...
Anyhow, the day arrived and it was a stinking hot day so by the time they arrived at the function they had a much better understanding as to why many riders don't agree with full motorcycle gear being compulsory...  :rofl

A major problem is the price as soon as it gets and "APPROVED" label. Instantly 300%
