Redverz Gear Series 2 Tent
« on: May 22, 2012, 12:10:13 AM »
So I was thinking about the National Rally 2013 :runyay and working out costs of getting there and back :-[
Anyway I was thinking to save a bit of money I would look into camping :thumb as opposed to motels

Well after looking around and checking out a few of the camping stores, I decided something that isn’t designed for a midget or require me to lie down to get changed :cuss would be the way to go

So after all this I came across the “Redverz Gear Series 2” tent
http://www.redverz.com/index.html

This tent is designed for motorcycling :blu13 and when set up it’s huge (your bike can park in the tent with you :eek )

I have spoken to a few guys at the camping stores and they all said I should go for it!
The Australian dealer has the tent with the ground sheet for $520 (this is a good price for a tent this size)
https://www.adventuremoto.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=129&products_id=1254&osCsid=1f602ad4e53c952d5fa43d7c1e0ddda3

Anyhoo I thought it looked cool so check it out and let me know what you all think :thumbs
Here is some of the vids from the website :grin

Looks great. Seems just as easy to put up as a smaller tent, and packed size wise it is good.

Jeez Shiney, having watched the clips you included I am almost tempted to go that way, despite what I was saying on Saturday about motels. It certainly looks good and over a period of time would save its own cost in motel charges. This has certainly given me something to think about!!

Thanks a lot!! :well

Terry,
I am not sure about the weight either but I read it this way,
from the specifications section:-

"Average minimum weight  13 lbs"

"Average minimum weight specification is based on tent, rainfly and poles only"

So the base item is the inner section and the rainfly the outer.
Then you  would want at least one may be two groundsheets or footprints as they call them.
They say the footprint weight is 6 oz which seems rather light. if this is correct the figure you would be looking at 13 lbs 12 ozs.
So under 7 kgs.

The way I read the rest of it is that you have a built in floor in the inner section and then use a footprint under the inner section for protection and a second footprint as the floor in the motorbike section.

Just that I checked it out on few UTube videos and never seen a fly being taken out of the bag. And on one, a ground sheet was down before the tent went up where the sleeping compartment is?

That could be for added protection to the floor of the sleeping compartment Terry..........probably need to speak with someone who sells them to get all the necessary info.  They certainly look the goods to me!!

Just sent an E-mail to the Australian Distributer asking if the tent had a floor and if it came with a fly, or was the tent waterproof. Let the world know of the answers when I get em. Heres a Link to the Australian distributer.

I've viewed further video's on their website Terry and the sleeping compartment definately has a floor and the outer tent (fly) comes with the inner attached to it, and is waterproof. They can be detatched if you wish to do so.   A separate ground cover is available for the bike storing (outer) area if needed.

Just read my Emails and recieved this fronm the Australian Supplier.

Steve Smith steve@adventuremoto.com.au
It has a floor in the main tent compartment and you can use a groundsheet in the vestibule. The tent has a fly or "inner" tent.

It's your fault Shiney.......you started this thread...........now, how many of us are going to be out of pocket again, hey!!

Any more on the tent. I have the money and just wondering if it is as good as the video suggests??? :think1
And is that Adventure Moto crowd the only place you can get it from in Australia?

Hi Terry
Yeah Adventure Moto are the only place in Australia that sell them.

I have received the tent and its huge when set up lots of space.
When packed up it takes up almost all the space in one of the panniers (on the ST1300) but it should be worth it for a comfort of having so much space.

I haven’t had a chance to get out and use it yet but I have set it up in the yard at home… All up it took about 30minutes to set it up, take some photos and pack it up again, its very easy and fast to set up and pack away so I’m very impressed.

Anyway check out the pictures and when I have taken it out on the road I’ll do a proper review.

NB: I am about 6”3 for comparison in the photos.

The Picture where I am lying down wasn’t taken from a good angle, I have about 40cm above my head before getting to the edge of the tent.

The last Picture is of the tent laying down with the poles still in it.

Cheers

"BLOODY EXCELLENT" Your photos and write up is better than any of the Videos. It shows the size of the tent, the size of it packed and the rest. Just Bloody Excellent
The tent and the sleeping bag will fit just right on the pillion seat. Hmmmm a back rest :thumbsup
Ill give that Adventure Moto crowd a ring in the morning and order mine
