BIKER Friendly Pubs & Accommodation - VICTORIA
« on: September 15, 2022, 03:55:56 PM »
Court House Hotel Ararat.

Stayed here Sunday a couple weekends back, on way home from NatRally.  Good, comfortable, clean room, A/C, TV, shared facilities, great meal (lamb shank), smooth & creamy Kilkenny Lager on tap - all for $60.  Friendly publican & staff, and locals ready for a chat.   Off-street parking available, but I left the Mighty ST1300 and trailer parked out the front, opposite the cop shop.

Will stay again.  Trying to organise October RTE here - stand by for an update on that.

Did I say they have Kilkenny lager on tap?

Kaneira Hotel, Culgoa

Nigel and I stayed here Sun 20 June 2021, on way home from Siverton RTE.   Twin share room (small but adequate), $35 per head, cold beer, great meal (T-bone you couldn't jump over), off-street parking.

Hosts Marty and Leigh know how to look after guests (Leigh cooks and does a great job).  Continental breakfast available, but bacon and eggs available next door.

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Parkside Inn Motel & Conference Centre, 1043-1049 Plenty Rd, Kingsbury VIC.

https://www.parksideinn.com.au/

Posted for those (Bodo, Dougie, may be some others) looking for budget accommodation, only around 30min NW of the City. Not far from where you guys stayed last visits.

Haven't stayed, can't comment on the standard of accommodation, but at the price, some short-comings (if any), it may be worth the risk.  Booking sites indicate from around $115 per night, but the sign out the front indicates better.

The sign was there today.

I stayed two nights at the Bell Motel on the way to and from the Cape Paterson RTE.  The room was huge and I was content with it.  It wasn't as cheap as that though.

About 5km further from the City.  Pics indicate respectable rooms.

Yeah, cheap though!

A little bit of discussion on another thread prompted me to review and update this thread.  Perhaps others can start a similar thread for their state.

Unfortunately, the Courthouse Hotel is closed, but here a few more from the past six days & nights on the bike.

King River Camp, BYO sleeping bag and linen, former Christian Camp (five bibles in our cabin), now mainly caters for school camps, no meal on site, ~15km to Whitfield pub.  Our cabin has four double bunks, large ensuite, only $45 per head (three share).

https://maps.app.goo.gl/fxvVLc9Frv5Gs6GY7

Eskdale Hotel, good rooms, modern shared amenities, great meal, great cold beer, publicans (John & Cheryl) both ride.  Continental breakfast included.  $60 per head twin share.

Mountain View Motel Corryong, good units, ensuite, 200m walk to pub.  $75 per head twin share.  Continental breakfast included.

Also Corryong Hotel is pretty good, but haven't stayed there since 2021.

Benambra Hotel, ordinary rooms, old tired amenities, great meal, great cold beer.  Continental breakfast included.  $60 per head twin share.

Heyfield Railway Hotel, great unit, modern ensuite, great meal (senior's bangers & mash $19), great cold beer.  $65 per head twin share.

More to come .....

And some from the to and from Toowoomba NatRally ride, March 2025.

Tallangatta Hotel, acceptable rooms, shared amenities, good meal, off-street parking, no breakfast (great bakery within walking distance, $60 per head, would prefer to stay at the Victoria (next listing) but okay if the Victoria is booked out.

Victoria Hotel Tallangatta , stayed with Neil & Val, and Gordo on way to Mudgee NatRally (what, 2023?), similar details to but better than above.

Bellbird Creek Hotel, book well ahead, Gaz (the publican) is very, very quirky, a keen biker, at least 10 of his bikes in the bar and dinning room, okay beds, okay shared amenities (to bloke standard, not the ladies though), under cover parking, no beers on tap - only bottles & cans.  Eye fillet steak was cooked on BBQ by Gaz whilst we stood around chin wagging and BSing, salads were plenty of tubs of fresh IGA salads.   Bed (single rooms) and dinner was $80.

Conatct me for Gaz's mobile no.
