Been out of water for too long...

This is one of many fish that were used for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in 2006ish.  They were then given to councils around the state, some of which put them on display outside when they weren't originally design for that.  This one and the one at Tooradin have held up better than others.

Apparently the fish at Edenhope is a Bigeye Scad and represented the Country of St Vincent & The Grenadines.
The one at Tooradin is a Dolphinfish and represented Malta...

That is correct.  It was discussed in my Harrow Ride report years ago when someone else told me about them.

A very short ride yesterday as I took my daughter to football.  She rides with me every now and then and wears what was Pocket STocker's Ozstoc jacket.

Thursday night after work I set off for the national rally with a two hourish ride to Lameroo and bunking up at the Lameroo hotel.

Yesterday morning I left Lameroo in the wee hours of the morning, crossed into Victoria under the cover of dark and arrived in Mansfield at about 1445.  I did manage to find some new roads to ride.

Afew of us went up to Mount Buller this morning.  I did my own thing after that and took this one at Merrijig on the way back to Mansfield.

Today I rode out to Kevington before returning to Jamieson and completing the loop around Eildon (put the drone up there), Alexandra, Yarck and Merton (as per maps that were in our rally packs) before checking out the serenity in Bonnie Doon.  Now chillaxing a bit before going to pizza night.

The big Hills Hoist at O'sullivan Beach on the way to checking out De Youngs around the corner on saturday.  Then it was off to lunch at Pik·A·Pie at Meadows - the first time I've eaten there.

:wht13  Very nice bike @b0d0 with the dual colour scheme. I personally love the blue and black combo, Maroon and Black looks cool too! I've been curious on owning these GW's also. So took the plunge. Low price, high mileage, sorting through the issues, 2006 Model. Then got sick and haven't ridden much at all. But it looks good next to the ST and it's so much wider and a tad longer than the ST, makes the ST feel like a sport bike. Anyone after a not working 6 stacker CD player from a GW for parts?  Loud Slip-ons?,  :blu13left

For yesterday's RTE the Versys was the weapon of choice as most of the things I wanted to check out were on unsealed roads.  This was at Brady's Creek.

Today I went and checked out the Sutherlands Hotel.  The food was really good and the fireplace was going.  I had it all to myself.  Limited choic of beer, but have returned home content.

Southwark wasn't known as Green Death for nothing.  However, Southwark Old Stout is my choice when it comes to Stout with a bit of body. I find Guinness a bit light weight for MY taste - I'm sure there are many others with a far more discerning palate who will disagree.

I found two pints made me tipsy which Guinness doesn't.  The bottle says it's 2·2 standard drinks.  I've never looked to see what a can of Guinness is.

Guinness is 4.2% alcohol and Southwark Old Stout is 7.4% The Guinness can is 440ml and the SOS stubbie is 375ml. Guinness claims 1.5 standard drinks on its container and SOS claims 2.2 standard drinks on its container. Cheers  :beer

Some of the distribution is interesting.

My local managed to get a keg of Southwark Old Stout last year, but this year were told it wasn't going to be released on tap.

Instead, this year they got a solo keg of Guinness, which didn't last long - being March & St Patrick's day.

They swapped to Cooper's Stout over winter.

The Cooper's Stout has now been replaced by their 2025 Vintage Ale & Sullivan's Irish Stout. Neither are cheap - $14 & $16 each for a pint even during happy hour.

Prices are awful, but still beats some of the eastern states rubbish.
