BAGSTER tank clips
« on: May 28, 2024, 02:22:13 PM »
So.... my Bagster tank cover is missing the clips that hold it to the tank.
Apparently, the Australian distributor isn't bringing them in and can't supply parts.
They're horrendously expensive to get from OS....

Any creative/handy types out there able to suggest an alternative?

What's the expensive part?  I found 'em for around AU$14 each, although the website hasn't been updated since 2021, so probably closer to $20.  If it's the postage from UK or US, there are members on STOwners.com that'll will forward them on.

Are they plastic or metal?  :think1

Mine are Bagster OEM, they're plastic.  May be another job for the 3D printer.

Send me sizes and I will check that too.

Next time I have the front saddle off and access to the the clip (which from memory I'll need to loosen the tank or upper fairing), I'll try to remember to get some measurements.

In the meantime, StormST may be able to provide some details.

I don't know how strong or hard printed plastic is, but these clips bear quite a bit of stress.  They don't usually break- just get lost (although I haven't lost either of mine yet, but I do tuck the ends in very securely).

Crikey, you must some serious tension on yours, mine I pull tight to just take-up the slack.

I lost mine - in the garage.  I suppose it was more likely of a case of misplaced, wasn't too fussed, would have quite happily got out and about without it.  Found it when putting things away, and then put it back on the bike.

Thanks all.

I thought they were metal - from the memory of previous Bagsters I've had but that was more than 10 years ago.

The airfreight postage cost from Europe was something like 70 euro's - so well over $AUD100 (unless by ship - very slow-  and I have a big trip coming up I really want the bag for)

I might have a browse at Bunnings or one of our local fastner specialists and see if I can make anything work.

Shame they aren't coming here anymore - I've had them on four bikes in past and loved them.

Cheers!

You would have thought for US$57.80 they could have supplied 2!!
By the time you add freight @ US$10 and tax (which Amazon have to add @ 10%) you're getting near AU$120!!  Oh, plus your CC bank adding currency charges...
Keep looking!

That's Aussie Dollars, Bill!  :whistle
And if you're an Amazon member like me, you get free expedited international delivery.
Even if you're not a member, simply spend another coupla dollars and you'll get free delivery anyhow...
Oh, and the GST is already included in that price plus there's no bank charges for currency exchange as it's through Amazon Australia...  :thumb

Too cold to be dicking around in the garage tonight, and then a full day tomorrow, when I have a chance (probably Tuesday), and if I remember, I'll get some measurements, more pics and post 'em.

Remember?  Might need a reminder.
