Today's ride was a spin off from the Lameroo Ride To Eat last month, taking the Versys out to check out things I missed or noticed on the way to Lameroo. The day was just as foggy (in places) but no rain.
First stop after Mannum was to take the dirt to Pellaring Flat. Believe it or not it was my first visit here despite checking out all the haunts on the other side of the river.
End of the road at Lake Carlot. I wonder how good their cameras are in the fog.
End of the road at Teal Flat. Are you detecting a theme?
On the road to Craignook I spotted two foxes, although despite looking at me for a while they did the bolt when I stopped. I've seen a lot of foxes on my travels but they've always been just the one. Seeing two together was a first.
End of the road at Craignook, but less fog now.
These were all firsts for me. I was content that I had chalked off all the settlements on this side of the river between Mannum and Caurnamont, only to get home, look at google maps and realize I missed Rocky Point and Old Teal Flat. I guess another spin off is on the cards when the weather is right for it. After I crossed the Purnong ferry I had a look at things I spotted on the way to Lameroo but didn't stop for.
After that I took a different route opting to take the dirt to Claypans. This was a first for me although I had done Perponda-Copeville-Galga etc. to Maggea last year.
A wrong turn from there and the road got really "interesting". Fortunately it led to somewhere (eventually) and I took more Versys friendly roads to Copeville, Kalyan and Perponda.
I wanted to check out the Perponda oval and wasn't expecting anyone to be there, so was taken aback at all the Winnebagos and caravans. It turns out they do this once a year and I just happened to pick the one weekend they book the venue. They didn't object to me taking photos and said I could go inside and have a look at the hall. The football club no longer operates but there were heaps of trophies on display (and a log fire). There can't be many clubs that call themselves the Parrots.
The real reason I came out this way was because on the way to Lameroo I stumbled across a vending machine in Karoonda that does pizza. I've never had a pizza from a vending machine, so was curious to try one. Alas the machine was broken and the lady said they were expecting it to take a week to get fixed. She said she could cook one up, but as that wasn't what I came for I left empty handed and came home to cook my own lunch.
No stops on the way home except to refuel at Murray Bridge and my local. Gps Loggers says I did 368 kilometres for the day.

One of them is over my way, the Leongatha Football & Netball Club...
