Forecast now 34°C on Saturday, so a warm ride.

Will definitely wear the summer jacket.

Bodø Jnr is also coming.

And now he's out.  Apparently there's a SACE presentation at the Japanese community school as he was the only one who progressed that far has to be there.

I won't make this one. A funeral in Adelaide tomorrow, then four hours or so each way will be a bit much on Saturday.

See you all at Kapunda though, probably with my Grand-daughter on the back.

Home & showered after a deviation through the Barunga Gap & a refuel at the Toll Gate.

It was toasty enough, but at least it wasn't humid. Countryside obviously deep in drought - not a drop of moisture at all.

Home, rehydrated with Coopers Pale and Southwark Old Stout (water on the road - actually, no water on the road because we are in drought - you know what I mean). Perhaps the Himmys thermometer thingy reads high but it read 37/38 the whole way back and in my book, that's bl**dy hot for this little black duck. 'Twas a good catch up mind you.

The variety, availability & the quality of beer in NSW was a topic of discussion today.

Need to fill the panniers in SA ahead of any future NSW excursions to bring the good stuff.

Totally agree Shillas. As mentioned at lunch, the Glen Innes Great Central Hotel was the only NSW pub I came across with drinkable beer on tap.

I don’t recall any complaints re. beer quality at Grafton, Stroud or Ulladulla.

To be fair my Not The National Rally ended up being at Crystal Brook (SA) and they didn't have any quality beer either, not to mention the kitchen closes at 1300 not lunch was a blueberry muffin.  That could well be the first time I've had a muffin at a pub.

By stage I'd given up - they at least had Tooheys Old, best of the bunch :grin

If you recall, at Ulladulla, I wasn't pleased that when I ordered my Cooper's Sparkling Ale, he didn't roll the bottle to mix all the chewy stuff through.

I did a quick search of "draught beers in NSW hotels" and it came up with all manner of boutique ales which I would have been more than happy to imbibe. Sadly my experience was the pubs I stayed in were generally limited to insipid dishwater like Great Northern (undrinkable), XXXX Gold (similarly uninspiring), VB (crap) and Toohey's Old (about the only one that doesn't trigger the gagging reflex). It may have been I was staying in small country towns and it wasn't economically feasible to have a larger selection of beers on tap. I did try to get bottle/cans instead - but not much in stock. As I may have mentioned elsewhere, the Grand Central Hotel in Glen Innes was a shining beacon in a sea of miserable muck with its Deepwater Brewery beers on tap.
