No continuity
« on: January 11, 2025, 04:10:31 PM »
Hi all.08 ST1300.77000km.My very reliable bike left me stranded recently. It turned over but wouldn’t fire up. Once home I tracked down there was no fuel pump power or power at coils. Then found power to engine cut out relay from fuse set up and from ign key / kill switch working ok.I had power coming out..black-white wire but no power arriving at fuel pump relay.Checked continuity between the two and there was none.! Schematic diagram..Haynes..shows nothing in between.I jury rigged a wire from cut out relay to both power wires into fuel cut out relay.Bike started and I ran it for a few seconds. After putting back on some plastics the next morning I started it up..however it was not happy to behave as normal but did idle enough to ride out the gate.Slowing down from 2nd gear it cut out.Have now removed temporary wiring bridge.Any ideas where to look for the break in continuity ? Everything is working normally…no fault code showing….I am stumped.Thanks.

Sounds a little like the HISS system. Do you have two keys, one with the chip in it and a spare non original that doesn't have the chip in it?

My mate that bought my  :blk13 from me had a similar issue as that
He somehow used the spare key without the chip I had made up for panniers and pie warmer
Well it wouldn't start just likes you say
Well he got the main key and tried it. Well broom away it went
I think Glen could be on the money
Best of luck Richard
