.... seeing as many of you guys swear by the Michelin Road 6, I decided I'd join the club.
Sounds like a lot of effort to join the club, hope you like it.
$352 with discount? Wow. Prices have sure risen.
Prices, not so sure, my records are pretty sketchy.
I needed a rear for the ST1300 at Mannum in September 2022, had to go to GC Motorcycles in Prospect, left with a PR5 GT (from memory) and $405 lighter, but that included supply and fit new rear brake pads.
New tyre (a Dunlop - that's what the buyer wanted - prior to the RWC inspection) fitted in October 2024 to the rear of the substitute ST1300 at Scotty's in Ringwood, $390.
Purchased ST1300 tyres twice off the internet, first were a set of PR3's (I think, it was about 10 years back). Got 'em from a Gold Coast dealer, don't recall $$, but it was damn good. Took 'em to a local dealer (K&J Thomas in Whittlesea) to get 'em fitted. Kel Thomas whined like an EH diff, said I (and many like me) were breaking his balls with internet buys. I told him the price (about $100 less than he had quoted), he said he could even get them for that price. I gave him the details of the GC dealer and suggested he buy from them.
Second set were from a highly recommended USA dealer, again great price. Local Tyre Power dealer (did all of our work cars), cost me a slab of VB for fitting. But he didn't balance them (balancer was out of action),
bring the bike back next week. I didn't need to.
I couldn't be fagged dicking around with this sort of crap any more, I'll just pay for the fitting and balancing.
Good luck to you though Rusty, with all the $$ you've saved, it's you first round at Clunes next month.
