As of 14 June 2025, Swann Insurance no longer offers new insurance policies and will continue to serve our customers who already have an insurance policy with us and provide further information at renewal time.

They were the go-to for bike insurance back in the day.

Thanks for the heads up Bodø, I'm with Swann Insurance and have been for years, but I guess that is coming to an end.
Hopefully NRMA will offer similarly priced policies :X

I jumped to Swann last year after the RAA's premiums took a massive hike so I equally concerned as to how this will go.

I'm with Shannon Insurance
They were brilliant when I had my off in 2018
But for some reason I changed to Youi Insurance
But swapped back to Shannon Insurance earlier this year
They were a little dearer than Youi but with the NT1100 and Spyder linked I'm glad I returned
Peace of mind I think
But hopefully I don't have to put in a claim
Just my 2cents worth

The ST1300 is with Swann, as it has been for a number of years.  There was some difficulty with my claim after my 2023 incident and their assessor declared it a repaible write-off, but everything was resolved to my satisfaction, so I renewed with them when all repairs were completed and it was back on the road.  In the interim, the replacement ST1300 was with Swann.

I received an email from Swann last week.  Checked my policy on-line, it's current to 25 May 2026, guess I'll be shopping around at some time before then.

I also have two policies with them.
Had a letter dated 3 June saying they are transferring my policies from their current insurer, being, ( Insurance Australia Ltd ) to ( Insurance Manufacturers Australia P/L ). Note the P/L.
This is, I guess, the underwriters of the policies, new or otherwise.
This is subject to A Federal Court decision, which they expect around July 31, 2025.
No other detail in the letter about a merger or a sale.
if you would like a copy of the letter, pm me your email, and I`ll send it through.
Another 2c worth.

Swann have always used Aus Post with me.
May have set that up at the start.
Been with them for about 8 years now. Always in the mailbox.

Could be that long for me too.  Applied on-line, most have an option to receive correspondence via snail mail or email, I usually tick the email box.

I got a renewal notice from NRMA today for the wing's insyrance.  The premium has doubled from $504 with Swann last year to $1082 with MRMA this year.  The Xmax has to go to the bike shop next wednesday so I might have to drop into Shannons (their office is just down the road from Yamaha World) and see what they can offer.

I am with Shannon Insurance I changed to Youi last year but have changed back to Shannon because I remember how well they looked after me when I had my off in Adelaide in 2018. The premiums were much the same
I feel so much better that I am with a premium Insurance company

There seems nothing as consisent as insurance company inconsistencies.

The ST1300 is still with Swann, at $391 for $14,000 cover, it's a no-brainer, May 2026 (if I still have it, but that's unlikely), I'll shop around.

The CFMoto is with Youi, at $615 for $8000 is the best I could find. Shannons wanted $880.  If anyone can understand the logic, educate me.

My guess, is the CFmoto is the greater risk, in both, more affordable for young people and more off-road danger for grumpy old men, with a history of falling over on dirt roads

I can see that side of it.  I know when my wife traded in her Yaris for a Corolla the premiums actually went down despite being a more expensive car.

Speaking of Swann, my policy expired at midnight last night and automatically renewed so I guess I'm with Swann for the next 12 months... :thumbs

Now I am intrigued.  The wing's premium's and excess both doubled.  How did you know that it automatically renewed?

This is what was mentioned regarding renewal:

Quote
Our records show your Motorcycle Insurance (Policy) will expire at midnight on 01/11/2025 and we'd love you to stick with us.
Please check that the details of your Policy on the attached renewal invitation are correct and let us know of any alterations to your Policy before making payment.

It is also important that you read and understand the Important Notices section detailed on page two of the attached renewal invitation and let us know if you have any questions.
Please check the amount of your sum insured to see if the level of insurance cover is still appropriate for you.

As you are currently making payments by monthly direct debit, we will automatically debit the next monthly instalment as shown on your renewal invitation from your nominated account, unless you contact us before the due date.

I'll check my bank account this week to see if the monthly payment has been deducted...

Mine wasn't monthly direct debit.  On close inspection it says "if the premium is not paid by the due date your policy will not be renewed and you will not be covered..." blah blah blah.

I did actually write them a letter saying I wouldn't renew it for what they were asking.  I went elsewhere, fortunately to someone who has an office in Adelaide.  I shall do the same when the kwaka's is due to expire as well.

Interesting, the Bav starts with RACV on the due date of Nov 11, virtually no difference in cost or terms and conditions.
The flip side is that the Yammy stays with Swann?
No idea why! :H
