Just to throw in a technicality....there's only 2 speed limits in all Aus, the rest are speed zones  :Stirpot
One day you will wake up and there won't be anymore time to do the things you've always wanted so do them NOW!!!
Remember there are 7 days in a week and Someday isn't one of them!

Awareness of the posted speed is not always the problem people like me (and those hinted at by Rusty) face.  It's the reasonableness of the limits, as hinted at by Williamson.  If the speed seems to be unrelated to the conditions, there's a strong temptation to exceed them, inviting a fine for doing a speed that is perfectly safe.  On the other hand, I wonder about the criteria used.

Spot on, Bill!  :thumbs

This law has been in Tassie for a while now and I have not heard of this causing any problems, I have witnessed the opposite both in Tassie and on the Hume Hwy when the Traffic spotted the flashing lights all vehicles automatically slowed to the 40kph limit and both being on a dual lane carriage way they also moved into the right hand lane without being directed by Police, which I thought was awesome giving everyone on the site the extra room.

I am tempted to comment here but I wont express an opinion. I do however recall thepolice asking for a review of these rules due to a case where they were nearly collected by vehicles braking suddenly. I thought it was in SA. I have had a near miss in this situation.
