I was doing my annual drive up to QLD with Wife and Dog for a week to see friends for NYE.
I was due to leave on Boxing Day, but when I got home Xmas night someone decided they wanted my licence plates more than I did. I made a police report and they said you'll be fine in vic but once you cross the border you'll have nothing but trouble because NSW police are, in his words, "backwards pricks.", Best wait until Monday. So I waited and set off at 4 am to the Wondonga Vic-roads to replace plates, no questions asked from them (must happen a lot) I now have new plates screwed in with anti-theft screws.



When 10 minutes from the destination, I ran over this.

The tire is still inflated after the drive back home from Qld, and I think it will last for the life of the tire. Anyway, crisis is over and I hope everyone had a great start to the new year

I've had a puncture repair kit in my bikes since day one.  First used it on the way I went from NWS to Queensland in 2017 and again on the same trilp days before the Halls Gap RTE.  It's had two sets since (and the left over bits from the first) so if it's repairable I repair.

Number plates I have heard of them being stolen but it never happened to me yet
The screw in tyre puncture repair screws are great. I have been using them for years
Originally I used ones called Twist & Go which I had used but then I seen them on AliExpress my go to cheap on line store
I have not used them on my bike yet but helped out many unlucky people with flat tyres
Worth carrying them with you and also the battery tyre pump also from AliExpress

I've seen those puncture repair scrrews pop up on facebook and thought they looked interesting.  Thanks for sharing your positive experience with them.   See ya in Canberra.

Thanks Marcus- somehow I've never heard of that type of repair kit, and I've been in the game of tyre repairs many times with very mixed results.  Those look to be far superior in their simplicity to either mushrooms or worms.  And if they're still holding up on your van after a long trip they're got to be worth investigating.

I have heard of those coming loose and popping out due to the hard nature of the screws. I use the stop n go kit.

What on earth is that thing you ran over? Looks like a (small) butcher's hook with a ring spanner on it.

I think it's like an ocky strap, only made of rubber.
I think I have some kicking around the shed somewhere...Pretty useless if I remember correctly!
