Been thinking ???
« on: June 25, 2012, 07:59:47 AM »
Never worried about a screen on the bike, other than one small enough to keep the junk of the Geek stuff? But after reading for ages about how important some people think they are??? and how its so important to keep the wind off you??? been thinking that maybe I should have another think.
So yesterday I'm on the way to Brisbane in the Statesman cause I needed to use the car and was passed by a bike with a screen on it. Rider and passenger having a blast. So I starts to think about maybe me getting a screen.
So I opens all the windows by electric window opener and the air flows in. Ahhhhh I thinks a lot like on the bike??????? I closes the windows, Hmmmmmm no wind?????? Windows open? windows shut, windows open? windows shut? ahhhh maybe this is what its like with a screen that blocks off all the wind. So straight away I decides that I like my bike with no screen and if I want the wind off me I'll take the car :thumbsup
Ahhhhh but theirs a difference between pulling up for a Latte on a bike than it is to pulling up for a Latte in the Statesman :rofl

A good screen pushes the bugs and rain off/away from the head, and allows one to arrive at the latte shop with arms that aren't too tired from having to hold on at 200Ks.

But the ST is way more environmentaly friendly, in that uses much less fuel and is much more fun to travel on.. (especially if its White and has spotties fitted over the mirrors..

Hmmmmmmm ??, well the Statesman got a V6 Supercharged motor and on a trip gets a touch over 14 kays to the litre (7 litres to the 100) :thumb so don't think the bike uses much less fuel???? But the Statesman does have a screen like most not if all on this forum just love, and it does keep the wind off like most not if all on this forum just love :hatwave But yeah the bike is a whole lot of fun, but not in a 2 day 1500 kay thunderstorm, but it does have a couple of 1000 watts of sound sytem :thumbsup but it hasn't got spotlights fitted over the mirrors like the bike has had for bloody years thanks to the cops at the cop garage who gave me 2 sets for nothing.

Terrydj.....me thinks you also overlook one other minor point that leans in preference to the ST.....you see, you may do your short trip or long trip in the statesman but when you arrive at your destination and you begin to do laps of the local township so as to park your machine, I would have parked my STeed and been half way through my capuccino by the time you arrived. I may even have engaged in some conversation with a like minded rider whilst I don't see Statesman drivers as being very communicative with other Statesman drivers.
Although I do also drive a Disco II and although less environmentally friendly than the Statesman, it do manage to always park next to another Disco and conversations does immediately spark.

So i guess that in the sum of things....I have contributed absolutely nothing to this thread except to say that I love my Red ST1100

P.S. A further thought........what would happen if the electric window winder broke?........
