Hi Sargent I am heading up sort of your way through Cowra, Bathurst etc trying to stay off the hwy.taking 2 days to get up swagging it along the way.I want to see a bit of the country and enjoy the trip

This is going to be a fantastic weekend in Inverell taking in all great faces and personalities that are coming, all the different ST's and modifications, it will be a great Opportunity to meet some new people, renew old friendships, have some good food and drinks as well 

So get in and book a bed or campsite!

I have not finalsed a route as yet, but was thinking of the back way to Bathurst, Putty Road, Walcha and up from there.  May come back Cowra way.  It would be interesting to have 4 ST1100Ps together - we should get paid for helping road safety!

Aj1300, just back from Goulburn last Friday. The way I go is from Bathurst, Sofala to Mudgee, Coolah, through Premer to Werris Creek to Tamworth. All good roads and very little traffic.

Sargent1971, your planned route has a lot of truck highway (the Oxley and Newell) from Dubbo to Narrabri. Can I possibly suggest some other roads that will let you see the country and not the bum end of a truck.  From Wellington across to Gulgong, Coolah, Mullaley, Gunnedah, Narrabri and back to your plan. Much less traffic and all good roads.

Was gunna make it a one day ride up and one day home again but have just sweet talked the boss into having a four day long weekend. 

Rode downtown this morning and picked-up a Burke and Wills Swag....

Stevo,that's sort of the way I was going to go,but turn left at Carrol toManilla up to Bingara,right toCopeton dam,Inverell.
On the way back I thought of Thunderbolts way,work my way to the Putty Rd as I have heard it's a good road, then suck it and see. Open to any ideas if anyone's got a better way.I've got 2 days up and 2 back.or I could try and do it back in one run. No I think I better take my time.

Adam, if you turn left at Carrol you end up in river. That bridge washed away in 1971 flood. You will have to go to top of hill and turn left at the Keepit Dam turnoff and keep on that road to Manilla. I plan to go Manilla , Barraba, Bingara (lunch at Royal Hotel), Copeton Dam, Inverell.
Anyone else coming through this way, want to meet up and ride together? Am planning on leaving Tamworth about 10am.

It's a long way (65 km) from Glen Innes to Inverell, so you'd better be sure of yourself leaving Glen!  The light will be flashing! 

It's a long time to watch the flashing light!

Very phunny Mr Johnstone!  I will try and forget this when you come crawling to me asking how you too can save $1,000s per year on fuel, and how meticulous planning and resolve can easily conquer procrastination and spontanaiety    <-------- whatever the hell that means!!!

I'd have second thoughts if I were you, Diesel!   

Assuming you can get the NRMA out to you 15 kays from town.  I think they only do 10 kays.

You can always borrow the BMW Diesel.  I can confirm it will do 500+ k's on a tank of your motion lotion, but that fuel gauge flashing does drive you nuts when ya don't have the extra few litres in the back.

Thats about right for  commuting type riding. The stop/start and accelerate to a decent speed use a bit of juice. Thats the sort of figures I am getting.

On a long steady cruise at 110 Ks, the economy will improve, if on a controlled place, at 140ish then economy will drop somewhat
