Only Two Bars
« on: July 10, 2012, 10:53:12 PM »
Do you suffer from only two bars?

Economy down the gurgler?

Then here's the job for you.

All you need is a 5mm Allen key, various sockets and a screwdriver.

Plastics off.

Radiator off.

Remove knackered thermostat.

The longer of the two is the faulty, seized thermostat.

Flush system with distilled water.

Install new thermostat and o ring, reinstall radiator and hoses.

Add coolant. 4LTS of 50/50 premix.

Job done. Tupperware can go on tomorrow.

Almost set for the border.

Nice work Mal..... They can use alot more fuel in the efi motor with a stuffed thermostat and I was reading that you can't just use a car one as the Honda one will just stay open and other non honda ones shut close when stuffed

There is no such thing as half a temperature guage bar.

Couch is being norty!  Off to Port Arthur for him!

P.S.  And that W.A. Forum Copper is bent!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Well - TRANSPORTATION to Port Arthur for Couch isn't what it used to be like for Great Great Grandpa Couch who stole a loaf of bread! - It's merely a 20 min ride through some of the nicest country that ever existed! Hardly a punishment!            :wink1                 :law

P.S.  And that W.A. Forum Copper is bent!

As for bent coppers - Qld will take the 5th on this subject! (present co. excepted)      :popcorn                       :crackup

That implies that I am out side the rules, NOT SO... I not only enforce the rules, I decide what they are and how they are to be interpreted and applied. Therefore not bent...

Oh, there is a suite waiting for you at Port Arthur Biggles for implying that I am corrupt :well :well

Just come back from a ride to Perth.

The temp gauge stayed on three bars. Fuel economy seems to have improved greatly.
I'm looking forward to fueling up to check this.

The CLR heated grips worked well.
Since I had the plastics off, I fitted some of these as well.

All in all, very impressed.
