MOvember
« on: October 27, 2012, 06:18:25 AM »
OK Guys (and gals) its Movember in a few days (yes that time of year again  :beer)

Its all about awareness and raising dough for research and support of Prostate Cancer and Depression in blokes.

I again will be "going the mo", my my MO space is http://mobro.co/dalemclean.

Have a look, and hopefully a laugh at my expense, BUT most of all get off your bum and talk about stuff like this.

Get tested ( a little blood test is easy as ) it may just save your life, as it did mine   :thumbs.

If you know someone depression suffering depression, have a talk and help 'em out.

Most of all have a think and a talk and some fun with it all.

Well Dale I dont have PC (touching head as closest wood to be found) but I did suffer from Depression real bad about 3 years ago, and still do but a lot milder & now on medication but it is still hard when you have pain 24/7.
The best thing for me is belonging to Ostoc and all the good friends I have come to know and some still to meet, the RTE's we go on and just plain out there riding,

So I keep breathing plus laughing as much as I can even if means pottering around the house and yard making strange sounds creating very strange looks on others faces.
and listening to my music.

I hope others who have this problem are able to do this in some way so as to help themselves as well.

Tipsy
I am lost and haves gone to find myself
Now If I get back before I return
Please ask me to wait.

Heres the start of it all (http://au.movember.com/mospace/2970921)

For those (un)lucky enough to be going to the RTE on the 11th, you will see the real live version of the "growth" added to it  :nahnah

Tipsy, I commend you on coming out and saying that you have depression and having treatment for that issue.  The sad thing is, 1 in 8 male's suffer from depression (read that from a work promo).  No doubt that you have an infra-structure around you, but it is nice to know that the brothers and sister/s of the OZSTOC family are assisting you.

Gusty effort mate and power to you.

Cheers

I again will be "going the mo"

Dale the last time definitely changed your looks, but this time could you just grow your eyebrows real long and comb 'em down  :rofl :rofl :crackup :crackup

On a more serious note, my daughter has suffered from depression most of her adult life, knows the signs of when it's getting on top of her, has medication to help fight it off (I call them her "happy pills"), and uses me to unload her worries from day to day, which is great. It means she has it under her control, not the other way round.

My dad had Prostate Cancer, and died from it in '78, so I'ver been getting checked twice a year ever since, both blood test and DRE (that's the finger test) - so far so good  :thumb

Movember is a great cause....  Prostate cancer killed my father-in-law, and routine screening picked up my own prostate cancer at the tender age of 56.  I had surgery two years ago, and am as close to "cured" as I can get.   My surgeon says that I'll die of something else in a few decades which  I think is good news.   So guys, park your dignity in the doctors waiting room :butt and pick it up a few minutes later.  It'll be a bit dented but will survive, as will I and many others as well.

Guys,

At least have the PSA blood test.  My dad started having his done regularly when one of  his mates died of prostate cancer.  It picked his up really early and 15 years on he's "cured".  His brothers weren't so lucky, they left it longer before testing and hence theirs were more advanced before detection with fewer treatment options.

Wow. This is more common than one would think. I had a biopsy before I turned 50. Fortunately benign. I have a fantastic urologist  that knows how to lighten 'the moment'. A Dr with a sense of humour? Can he be a 'real' Dr ?
Ditto to all the preceding comments. Guys, get checked.
Cheers.
