I'm surprised the lid didn't just blow off. It's only plastic, yet it seems to have contained the explosion.
If it was a fire cracker it must have been a pretty big one, since porcelain is pretty tough.
Now I suppose they're going to complaint to the Council that their toilet self-combusted and they want to sue for personal damages.
