Tank bag ST1300
« on: November 12, 2012, 09:39:53 PM »
So looks as I may have company for the National Ride......so looking into tank bags, which bag have ppl had success with fitment to the 1300.....have gen 3 riser plate and wish to avoid bar/button issues.....need to order online as I don't have a bike shop with a number of bags to try on the tank before purchase.  Need to get this right the first time.

Cheers

Chris

I found a gen tank bag. It has two straps that secure in front of the tank. The flaps come down to the Honda wing on the side of the tank, they are held by magnets.
It comes in three parts.
The pad that stays on the tank.
A solid bag, which zips on the base, Then a smaller bag that zips on top of that.
I've used the smaller bag for GPS, phone and ipod.

It was quite cheap from the states. From memory it was under 300 inc post.

Chris, I got a tank bag from Aldi, and it only cost $80.00 I think, and it works very well, they bring them out for sale every now and then. :blk13

I've had this expandible Motodry tank bag for about 5 yrs.  Can't kill it!  Strong magnets, doesn't scratch the tank and it has heaps of capacity with plenty of useful pockets.  I think I paid about $120.

Yeah mate - I have 'announced my presence' a few times - but the bag can be positioned where you like on the tank - or even worn as a back pack.

It zips out to be a 3 storey office block in height, or quite low when you are only taking a couple of things, or even zips down to be a flat pack clear, waterproof map holder at its lowest.

Tooting once every 700kms is a small price to pay for such convenience - and you may even get around that!

Here are some pics of it in various stages....

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Diesel

As mentioned in previous posts, I bought a Honda tank bag. Thought I would share some photos. On a Blue ST of course.

The magnetic base. It also has two straps which secure in the front.

The bottom bag with rigid sides. Never used it.

The top bag attached.

With rain cover

How I normally use it. All top surfaces have a zipped pocket with a clear surface. Ideal for the ipod, gps and phone.
