Diesel's Spring Clean and Rewiring project - with pics...
« on: December 06, 2012, 10:17:15 AM »
Here is the unveiling of my last couple of months' work rewiring systems and adding new components with pics.

Thanks go to many members of OzSTOC (too numerous to mention) for your helpful advice and trouble you have gone to for me.

I have learn't a lot about doing a quality job which starts with a great plan, goes through 'good quality equipment' and ends with taking time to do a quality job.

Hope this 6 part series helps anyone thinking of doing it yourselves.....

That wiring was a tad messy.

Looks like two pounds of wet spaghetti! However in your defence, from an Electromagnetic Interference point of view having wires running neatly side-by-side in bundles is the worst thing you can do. Individual wires carry current which creates magnetic fields around the wires, which induces current into adjacent wires, which is the cause of whines, clicks and other assorted noises in intercom systems etc.  This can be avoided by not having wires running parallel to each other...but Jeez it looks a mess!

I think Scotch locks were invented by Lucas electrics. Looks impressive but fails quickly, and creates damage on the way
