i get a clunk / gear clash, changing from 1st to 2nd, why

also have backlash opening the throttle
and also some times on closing the throttle

You seem to like your new home Harie.

On the throttle thing.... check that the cable is adjusted correctly FIRST. This is the easiest thing in the process of elimination for the behaviour.

The 1-2 gear change is the worst one for getting a clunk. Apart from adjusting the throttle as suggested, preload the gear lever with your foot then just flick the clutch while moderating the throttle, and firmly change the gear. Works most times.

I would post more, but I am trying not to break the BIG RED RULE above.
