At this stage I am adding the Biloela weekend to my to do list as it will be a good chance to catch up with a few new peeps  :beer  not sure yet which scienic route I will go as yet  :think1 but all the roads lead to somewhere. Will ring to check/book accommodation today. If  there is any one riding up from down south that needs an over night stop over in Hervey Bay on the Fri night then you are welcome to drop in to save a few $$ on accom  :hatwave   Bring on Biloela weekend  :nahnah accom all booked and they still have a few cabins available. Me n Mrs Holzie will be attending  :thumbsup

Good to see Holzie  :hatwave  I just started having a look at ways to get up there, and most involve roads I have just been on getting to Bargara and back a week ago, so time to take a more interesting route and take another day or so getting there and back.  But..have the Border Run not long after so need to spend a bit of time at home in between  :think1

Thanks Saaz, that's sound advice.... As for a route, have you been up through Moree, Goondiwindi, Wondoan,Taroom and Banana and across to Biloela? If you haven't, its a nice run and would be lovely this time of year.

Just an option for you Saaz if you haven't been that way. Roads are sealed all the way and not to bad as you would expect rural roads to be.

Cheers

Sabie

Sabie, I was looking for something a bit different and Goondiwindi, Wondoan,Taroom and Banana and across to Biloela sounds as close as it gets.  I went up to Eungella last year, and just came back from Maryborough, so anything with some variation would be great!  I went to uni with someone from Monto so deliberately went through there to Rockhampton last time.  I hope to have a few extra days around the event so may go north with some locals for a bit then head back down south.

No problem Saaz, its a good run up that way, plenty of fuel stops, just keep a eye out for the road trains and let them have the road.

From memory there's no single lane bitchumen. Banana to Biloela is only 45k's and its a reasonable road. Travelled that road thousands of time with my old railway job over the 25 years in Gladstone. We used to either take the train out to Moura and car home or car out and train home as one crew couldn't get from Gladstone to Moura load the coal train and get back to Gladstone in your allotted 11 hours.

I'm sure Tackleberry and John won't mind some company back to Townsville ... Prime riding weather at the moment.

I'm going to head over to Gladstone and have a week with my Son and his Fiancé and then head back to Townsville at the end of that week.

But nice country up through that way, the road will undulate a bit and there's a bit of subsidence due to the Black Soil, just watch it dosen't rock you to sleep.... LOL

See ya at Bilo....

Cheers

I'm not going to be able to make this one I'm afraid. Marissa and I passed through Biloela last weekend on the way home from Mackay. Looks like a great place and there is a fantastic pie shop at the Fruit Market right in the centre of town opposite the Honda dealer. Pretty good roads leading into and out of town too. Hope everyone has a great weekend and travels safely.

Sounds like a nice 5 hour ride from Moranbah might lock this date in and get a leave pass.

 :wht11 py

As Google maps mentions a 7hr + ride from my place I would be in no condition to enjoy the evening.
So I will leaving the day before and staying in a motel some where plus it allows me to take a more indirect and leisurely route.  :grin
Have not yet worked on which route

Hey Noel, it doesn't matter what you ride on the outside so long as Mind, Heart and Soul is ST.... :rofl

Everyone's welcome, if they've got a Bike.. Or not... They're welcome. There will be plenty of ST's to look over, don't be afraid to ask anyone a question about their ST. Just make sure you have plenty of time for the answer....we're a bunch of STalkers.... Bwaaaa.  :crackup

I've just spoken to the place in Biloela to confirm and pay the balance on my cabin. They have confirmed that the cabin I have has only a double bed in it - no bunks - so if anyone else is expecting there to be spare beds in their cabin, it would be worth checking that there are the bunks/beds you were expecting (soon - so alternative arrangements can be made if needed).

Just a thought.
