what bike pants do you recommend

So what's the recommendation for bike pants. I'm looking for some pants that will not make you sweat like a pig in summer. Keep you dry in the wet and possibly be good for winter. Am I dreaming or is there suitable pants available.. Leather or textile. What do the ozstoc brains trust think. Your advice is appreciated. Is it better to get a pair of riding pants plus a pare of wets.

I wear Kevlar lined jeans, all year round. Yes they get warm in summer, but better that than lose the skin off your legs if you should go down, For winter I use wet weather pants, any cheap ones from your work wear shop will do, these go over the Kevlar jeans.

I havent found any bike specific wet weather pants that last too long

+1 to kevlar lined jeans.. I've got a couple of pairs so when I'm travelling I have a spare pair.  I also have a pair of NaxSax wet weather pants that stay in the pannier during the wet season just in case. The NaxSax are a little complex to put on so I only wear them when I'm gonna be travelling in wet conditions for long periods.

I've recently acquired a pair of NED'S jeans. The Kevlar is woven into the fabric, not lined with, or patches of. I reckon they are fantastic. Feel more comfortable than regular denim jeans. HIGHLY recommended.

Thanks guys your advice is appreciated. It seams like kevlar jeans are the preferred riding pants. Do you also use thesethese for touring or do you slip into something less comfortable?

My son wears mesh motorcycle pants in the hot, with knee hip and butt protection.  I'm not sure of the brand. They let plenty of air through and would be quite cool to wear, but there's no way that I'll wear what looks a bit like fish-net stocking while I'm riding, and thus I tease him without mercy  .

I wear kevlar jeans for all of my riding, including the long touring journeys.

I prefer textile pants for touring.  IMHO they're more versatile than kevlar jeans.  Textile is more shower resistant, drys out quickly when it gets wet.  I find them cooler in the warmer months but you need a pair where you can remove the waterproof liner and vents help.  I also reckon they are warmer in the cooler months as they are more windproof.  They proabably aren't as good as leather or kevlar in protecting you from road rash but the good quality stuff has double layers in the impact areas but I'm happy to trade off a bit of protection for comfort.  There's a lot of good adventure stuff out there now which is ideal for road touring and worth a look also.
