It goes to show that an ST can outlast a BMW. Ray rode back to Perth on his ST after a roo strike.

It's high time the gummint started teaching their roos about looking right and left and right again before crossing the road.  They made sure we had it drummed into us in school!

As for crash proofing, it looks like the ideal bike is air-cooled rather than wearing a vulnerable radiator.

No- I didn't mention Harleys [spit, get the taste out!!].  I'm just looking for a solution to that weakness.

Here's a couple pics of my roo damage back in June 2008. What makes this so annoying is that it happened at 10:30pm when I was on the way home from work and 4 kms from where I was living at the time.

and then pushed side case off. I've managed to get the locking tabs bent back enough so the case locks in but a new case would be better.

I guess these hits to the side are preferable to head-on collisions.  A better chance at recovery and probably a lot less damage.

The reason for the hits amid-ships, I'm deducing, is that the roo departs the road edge too late for the rider to see it, so braking isn't an option.

Could be worse- in US it's deer that run onto the road, and their body mass is badly located for bike riders.

The deer have been getting thicker on the roads down this way for the last few years, after the deer farmers open their gates 20 odd years ago when the deer trade bottomed out.....Tenterfield to Black Mountain seams to be the thickest with a few down towards Tamworth.

Have hit 3 in the last 10 years......although really they hit me. Dusk and the next hour seams the worst.
